Browning 545 Firing Pin Issue

Good Morning Gents,

I'm after some advice from those in the know... my situation is that I have a 12 Gauge Browning 525 sporting O/U shotgun with firing pin issues.

The firing pins (on factory pins) were pitted quite badly, so I looked into replacing the firing pins. Some internet search showed this is a well understood issue. While in Krakow I managed to pick some genuine firing pins up and it was simple enough to replace, but these pitted rather quickly too.

I then bought some JNP custom firings pins from the USA, as I read these were more resilient to pitting. These seem to be worse and now piercing the back of primer caps on the carts.

I'm now stuck - has anyone got any advice on what to do? I just want firings pins that don't pit and pierce.

Any advice appreciated

Thanks,
Rob

The gunsmith I know that fixes this issue with Browning firing pins replaces them with Baikal firing pins. Roughly the same shape, a button type. The button has to be turned down a tad and the length sorted. They never come back and £10 a time.
This sounds ideal - would you be able to PM me their contact details? I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Rob

i had my browning for 3 years now from brand new .. i never had an issue..only time it misfired was when i used fiocci cartridges..misfired twice in 100 shots

I've had the same issue with the lower pin on my 525.
My local gunsmith advised me that once out of warranty put the B25 firing pins in and I wont have a problem.

Are you saying the B25 firing pin fits a 525 ? (B325/B425/B525/B725)

I have a lower firing pin B425 that needs replacing - just looking for a supplier online ?

Just had the bottom pins replaced on my guns (pretty new Mirokus). Gunsmith told me its a common issue, and can happen yearly in guns more regularly used. Bottom pins go first due to either being used more or action design, or both.
Instead of using genuine Browning pins, he made replacements from EN8 bar, hardened and tempered.

I'm only going on what my local gunsmith had said to me. Apparently there is a very small difference in size(length) which resolves the issue. I have no reason to doubt him as he's shot mirokus and brownings for prob longer then I've been alive and knows them inside out.

Try continental shooting supplies. Ask for Tom he will advise you better. And I'm sure he prob has some in stock.

It’s such an easy job to do stick with browning factory parts a just keep a spare less faffing.

I keep a spare set in the jeep as well if a client has an issue I can change them between drives or during a lesson.
