So now that we have completely left the EU...

Bloody hell, What was that about? Here’s me thinking SD was a little light relief in these fairly worrying times with Covid (or Corvid as a friend of mine calls it) still rampant, instead I’ve walked into a fairly heated debate the subject of which I didn’t expect to see on this site.
I’m old enough to have run a business in pre EU days when there was just talk of a Common Market which I was in favour of and voted to stay in when the referendum was held in 1975, but unfortunately it soon became clear that the agenda was changing.
I’m not going to enter into a discussion on the rights and wrongs of our leaving because I’m probably not clever enough to know all the implications of this but could we revisit this topic in a years time when the dust has settled and see how the land lies then.
We all have to bear in mind the unprecedented consequences of Covid.
Happy New Year All.

So does that mean you will never be able to hunt on the continent again?
No it does not mean mean I can’t hunt on the continent again but just for clarity I also never said that in my post. “ My European Firearms Pass now being worthless” which is what I posted means I now have to look up and follow the rules to bring in a rifle/shotgun to each EU country many of which have onerous paperwork/visa/visitor requirements

Happy New Year Everyone, been old is can remember ,be for we joined the EU ,we seemed to manage very well. It's time we start to produce more of what we need in the UK, get some lazy nuggets off their arses and do some work. Just my own thoughts ,a lot of people have no self respect. I would like to see them when there was rationing.,!!!

What isn't strictly true? Could the British government have banned pulse fishing before this as the French did, or did they have to wait for Brexit?

Several times when watching TV reports showing the large number of inflatables and outboard motors seized by the border agency I've wondered what's going to happen to them. There's some nice boats there, do they sell them off?
Anyone know of any public auctions selling these seized boats?
I think if you go down there pick one out that you like, and tell them you will take six immigrants back to France, they will give it to you for nothing. but don't forget to take your passport as you may not get back in.....silly me, arriving in a boat automatically gets you in, what was I thinking about.

I'd have thought that the main win of having finally left is that we can finally stop arguing and talk about something else  It's over, everyone should now just concentrate on looking forward and making the best of it whichever way you voted.
It will never be over.
From now on Johnson will face his stiffest Brexit challenges in a country still divided down the middle. One where Brexit identities remain stronger than attachments to political parties and where success depends as much on subsequent policy success as on leaving the EU itself.
Brexit is far from done. Game set and match this is not.;)
