Yes, but not about his wife’s sister, apparently!Well yes.
But a man can fantasise, no?
It worked well enough to turn some very big land masses pink for quite a long time. You cannot even get the brits together, ie Cornwall vs Yorkshire their prides and attitudes are still festering away. It is human nature to distrust folk from over the hill, was always so. Will not change soon.
But they are still trying to achieve what failed back in 45'............... Germania by the back door. Not sure anyone being invaded, enslaved and/or slaughtered thought so...
Much as anyone may dislike the EU, I think comparisons with the third Reich miss some fairly salient differences in intent, process and outcome!
Even if they are, they’re rather glaringly failing to burn, pillage, subjugate and murder millions...But they are still trying to achieve what failed back in 45'............... Germania by the back door.

Sorry - no matter how much you dislike the EU, equating it with the Nazis is profoundly misleading and disingenuous.
I was to be very clear not knocking England, just noting that all over the world strangers are a bit suspect, humane nature. Our intelligence overcomes this mostly but there are some glaring exceptions. It worked well enough to turn some very big land masses pink for quite a long time.
Even today, speaking English is still something people from all corners are encouraged to do.
Be proud of your Brit side, there's plenty of life left in the old dog yet to show the way.
That should have been on the side of that bus."Europe’s nations should be guided towards the superstate without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation." -- Jean Monnet
Message ends!
OVER AND OUT
Better the occupants threw themselves under it!That should have been on the side of that bus.
You dont think the people of Germany voted in the nazi party on a ticket of war and extermination do you ?Sorry - no matter how much you dislike the EU, equating it with the Nazis is profoundly misleading and disingenuous.
That is because you are confusing "in theory" with "in practice"....Never been clear to me why a federal European state is such a bad idea?
I mean one that is actually and explicitly a state, with a more efficient and direct democracy?
Seems like a perfectly good idea!
That is because you are confusing "in theory" with "in practice"....
“In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not"
Albert Einstein
Well the quote is appropriate to Mungo's question whatever its provenance
I worry about you CarlThere certainly are...

With enough re-education camps , mass graves and indoctrination , you could , but I'd rather not . I can't help but notice with the increase in globalism and post national identity , there's a corresponding growth in nationalistic groups and other tribal activities . Our own Prime Minister is still trying to live down a comment he made when was first elected . He pointed out that there is no distinct identities in Canada , let alone a Canadian one , we live in a post nationalistic world . Quebec , speaking of tribalism , wasn't too impressed . Granted , Trudeau has the intelligence of a wet towel , but a lot of progressives seem to share that school of thought . What is puzzling is when they're shocked by the rise in right wing popularity . I've said it before , but Trump was a symptom of what's wrong in the US , and the rest of the world , not the cause . We'd best get our heads around that fact or pay the price . As always , I enjoy your posts ............. even though I'm an old red neck lol .Oh I don’t know - indoctrinate the children firmly enough and put dissenters in the gulags. Should weld things together pretty sharpish...
Sadly, I think you’re right. A big, harmonious and properly democratic super state is a lovely utopian fantasy, but there is almost certainly an upper limit to both size and cultural variation, above which the whole thing becomes extremely unstable.
India for a case in point?Sadly, I think you’re right. A big, harmonious and properly democratic super state is a lovely utopian fantasy, but there is almost certainly an upper limit to both size and cultural variation, above which the whole thing becomes extremely unstable.
