Wool

I have also been looking at wool smock type jacket.
I tend not to venture out if its raining and was looking for something warm when foxing on a hill farm, going to be -5 tonight.
I kept seeing adds on face book for a smock made in canada from american wool blankets (heavy) so ordered one on #bay, turned out to be a cheap Chinese copy that had just nicked the picture 🤣.
The style with the big hood and high neck really appeals to me for tucking out of the wind.
Cant find the link sorry. (Try that)

The real deal:

That’s the boreal mountain ones I’ve lusted after but Amazon, ebay and Facebook are full of the chines knockoffs currently!! Sorry you got stung!! But the real deal is A LOT more money!
These are the real ones.

It was a bitter pill to swallow loosing £20 😂😂
A fool and his money ............🤣

Ps you wouldnt believe how long it took me to convince myself to spent the £20 🤪🤣

Far to cheap to be the real thing , theres always people hoping for a bargain they should know better.
Don't worry you are not alone, I got one too lol.

My absolute favourite. The originals are hard to find these days and second hand are expensive. Mil tech do a very good copy though not daft money either say to a barbour.

I found one new in a surplus shop for 35 euros 2006 use it throughout the winter on highseats or kanzel sitting still looks like the day I bought it. Fantastic quality,

Great to see a topic like this. People go on about micro plastics in the sea etc which I agree are just awful - I wonder how much of it comes out every time we do our washing? Natural products are great because when we're done with them they just rot back to nature. The first I saw of it was one of my old bosses jeans in his compost bin! I hadn't considered it as a teenager but it all started to make sense at that point.

I'm after a nice fleece with full length zip. Getting frustrated because a lot of them seem to be about 60% wool and the rest plastic. Any suggestions out there? I'm about to read the most recent links, not done that yet so forgive me if it's already there.

See my post #1 decathlon do a full zip wool cardigan, or check out woolpower (available on places like the bushcraft store) but be prepared to spend triple on the branded article....

I too have recently rediscovered wool after a lifetime of using ‘technical’ garments. One item that I came across by accident is the Dutch Army Fleece 80% wool and made under contract by a number of manufacturers including Helly Hansen for the Dutch MoD. They cost sub £25 on eBay or via surplus stores. Well worthy of consideration.

Swanndri, the ultimate farm wear. First bought one in NZ back in the seventies. Fabulous, warm in winter, cool in summer, reasonably waterproof with High lanolin content. Now made in china, thinner, non waterproof, & bad tight fit. Such a shame.

Yep, I've still got and wear a zip fronter bush shirt bought in 1993 to replace my bush shirt which was pretty much wrecked, it's streets ahead of the new ones. My wife bought me a ranger shirt 2 years ago, it's a poor imitation of the old ones I have, such a shame they've ended up like this.
