Salmond v Sturgeon

Is that the same one that voted yes in the last referendum but now lives in Florida, or the other great Scottish export, Sean Connery who voted to split the union from his private island in the Caribbean? If they want to go let um, just cut all funding and close the boarders.
I once nearly started a fight between a couple of close mates, one from Newcastle, the other from Scotland, I asked them when you kick the SH1t back over Adrian's Wall, which side does it land. It was funny at the time. all friends again now.
I’m pretty sure that Billy Has always been against independence. Connery was all for it, but as you mentioned he wasn’t so enthusiastic about living here or paying his taxes here.

Who will replace her though? It'll only be Nippy mk 2. Same message, same single-issue obsession, same Marxist economic illiteracy, same fiscal irresponsibility, same rank incompetence in governing.
The talent pool is not deep in the SNP. One could be forgiven for thinking that Sturgeon has intentionally selected idiots to serve in her cabinet to make her look better.
Currently one side of the party wants Joanna Cherry to take over, but Sturgeon is actively blocking that. The Sturgeonistas obviously don’t want the dear leader to depart, but their favourite successor is probably Kate Forbes, who is no idiot but is very inexperienced.

He was against it but i believe he's changed his stance now.Mind, the poor sod has Parkinsons .Great shame,he was a talented man.Awful disease.

...and following her recent engagement and with an eye on the biologic clock, may have an altogether different plan... just saying’🤔

With the greatest respect to all my friends on the other side of the Irish Sea - the depth of the SNP talent pool is still much greater than the deep end of that party’s gene pool! My good highlander friend’s descriptor “a bunch of door hoors” is just perfect.

Yes I thought Connelly was a unionist. I'm pretty sure he said so in on of his US road trip shows.
The comment from Drum123 reminded me that he said, after Brexit, that he could understand the independence cause because of the way that the vote had gone. Not sure if he is for or against nowadays.

It should be made a requirement that, before you can vote in any future referendum on Scottish Independence, you have to demonstrate that you can use a calculator at the very least; this may in turn lead to at least basic numeracy.
That should also be made a requirement for anyone standing for election in anything from local council upwards.
The SNP would have a hard job finding enough candidates for any elections :D

Cheers

Perhaps they should draft in that well known answer to Archimedes, Labour's very own (drum roll...) The Abbott. As a bonus she would also sort out Polce Scotland's fiscal problems - a PC for £30 a year, plus perks of course so make that £28! Marvellous! Why, if you are very lucky you could have, in her calculations, the holy foursome of herself and both Corbyns too!! Blimey! What a catch!!

The sad thing abut all this is the fact that the nine women who initially made complaints about Mr Fumble are being side lined and abused on "social" media. They were all obviously lying and Mr Fumble and his legal team made sure that he was found innocent of all charges - add to all this the ensuing scrap between Sturgeon and her predecessor means that no-one will win and the whole Holyrood system looks like a tin pot dictatorship..... We will have a few more weeks of this bullsh*t before the election up here so I assume there will be a bit more mud thrown about before then. You will note of course that Sturgeon never has the gall to say "Judge me on my achievements"...... simple response would be......there aren't any! Nope, all her arguments revolve around "Aren't the tories child eating murderers and I'm not Boris" . This sums up the desperate state of Scottish politics.

Hmmm. From my perspective in NI where of course we have the parliamentary model that many countries aspire to, populated by politicians that many would give their right hand (Norn Ireland reference cunningly slipped in there) not to have, it all looks very tacky. “Fingers” Salmond and “Teflon” Nic look like bit-part actors in a very bad Ealing comedy. Building on that analogy, Fingers could be played by Sid James (wah, hah, hah. Cut! now again but dooo just lose the scottish accent, Salmy dahling!) and Teflon by Hattie Jacques (So ok - intellectual stretch and far too ugly so very unfair on poor lovely Hattie, bless!) both of whom of course are long dead - now that would be funny, obviously not as funny as the real thing, of course.
As a closing thought, I wonder if the two were ever as “close” as their labour friends (The Abbott and JC) “down sarf” were, allegedly. I have just gone right off eating just thinking about that! Ooooh Matron!!!!

Sturgeon and the SNP are a classic example of a nationalist political party - i.e it's always someone elses fault - in this case Westminster
Look at any other nationalist political party now or previously and they all need a bogeyman to blame for what are predominantly problems of their own making.

That's not necessarily nationalism. It's a consequence of the half-arsed devolution settlement where Holyrood gets to blame Westminster for everything that goes wrong and claims the credit for everything that goes right, even though, that is completely fraudulent and as the SNP's tenure has gone on, there's been less and less to take credit for, until now they don't even try any more.
It cannot help either that Scotland is effectively a one party state, at least when it comes to forming a majority. It's a recipe for bungling, dishonesty and irresponsibility without consequence.

It's nationalism plain and simple
The SNP blames Westminster
The English nationalists blame the EU
The US nationalists (i.e Trump) blame the Chinese, and immigrants from South America
The Greeks blame the Turks
The Turks blame the Greeks
The French blame the Germans
The Germans blame the Jews
The Russians blame everybody
Nationalism is universally a bad thing
