I yesterday had it confirmed that a local gamedealer will stop taking lead shot carcasses by the end of this year.I feel this is just the start of things to come and certainly ramping up the pressure to faze out lead ammo before the 5 year deadline

If it increases the amount of wild U.K. venison on the supermarket shelves bring it in.
Selling to the gamedealer will come way before any ban on lead ( years before) the earliest we will see a ban on lead will be 2 years ( more than likely the 5 year as negotiated) but because most of our venison is exported and game dealers ain't going to be wanting to mark lead and none lead carcasses .........

Never sold a pack containing lead yet, no plans to either.
I'm guessing they could scan the kill zone for traces of lead.If head shot then no.
Scan how?

All ours are head shot I have asked that question about how would dealer or the vet know if shot with lead, I was told that blood / tissue sample could confirm, I sceptical on that though, but will go non lead if told by the estate.
Much of the lead is almost vaporised, the weight lost by a jacketed lead bullet is definitely not all bits can been detected by eye
Was you experimenting with lead free prior to this or did they give you warning in advance

Been using Barnes ttsx in for while now and in my air rifles for longer (lead free) as we as a company fly hawks and work ferrets the ferals and some rabbits we air rifle can be fed to the hawks. Lead will kill a hawk in very little time. I’ve had it once. Fed up on a bunny that a hawk caught unfortunately it had been pricked with some lead shot (shotgun) and the hawk ingested two pellets. It died 2 hours later!!!!
I even use lead free 17hmr now as well. Apart from cost I’ve found no difference in meat damage and accuracy. Although they need to be driven faster. I use factory mainly some homeloads if desperate but I’ve just collected 180 creedmoor and 140 .308 and the same in .30.06.
my foxing is a v max .243 but when I’ve used my rounds up I have then I’ll change as well. Given that most (not all) but most foxes are thrown in a hedge etc after the event this could lead to secondary poisoning to scavengers eating the Carcass

Whilst they could test tissue for lead I suspect each test would cost considerably more than the value of the venison so I doubt it will be carried out. Those taking carcasses to the dealer will have to sign a declaration and that will be it. I doubt we will receive any more for the venison.

180gr hollow nose lead core 30-06 on a Roe, if they could find any Roe left then they were definitely going to find lead
