Boyds Gunstocks - After the wait disappointment!

Well after a 6 week wait, my new stock arrived and it doesn't fit!
I'm aware that some tweaking is required but I think this would require a tweak to far to sort it!
I ordered an nice stock for my Browning A bolt 2 S/A but as you can see from the photos, the inletting on the new one is slightly longer at the front.
I don't think I could get away with taking the dremel to it.
I've emailed Boyds and will see what they say.
Thoughts on whether it's doable to be able to modify the new stock to fit?

I ordered a laminate stock for my other half's Browning X bolt and it fitted fine. May be that is what you have been sent by mistake?

Its a perfect fit Regards the rear of the action and the trigger guard and holes. Just the front holes and recess a cm or so to long for my action.
If it wasn't for the fact that modifyibg it myself would bring the new hole very close to the edge, I'd crack on with it as the trigger guard would cover it.
I'm not looking forward to another long wait if I need to return it

I bought ours in the UK. There is a company that imports them on behalf of Boyd, but the stock is very limited. We got lucky as the one we wanted was in stock. A few pounds more but no wait. I cant remember who it was that had them though!

There was a link to that company on here a wee while back. I tried them but there was not one for my rifle in stock.
At least I'm still operational as the change of stock was simply because I fancied a new one!

After several emails it appears that as mine is a 233, that comes in a super short action. I was aware that mine was short action and I was unaware of the SSA action existed.
All on all its been an expensive lesson. I am paying to have it returned and have a refund minus 12%

Ah , that would explain it , sorry to hear about your predicament . I have to admit , I wasn't aware that a SSA existed either .

Oh dear, sorry for your disappointment - I have a couple of pals who went down the same route as you by importing direct from the US. One had no issues and the other had the choice of returning or “modifying“ it himself, which he did. The issue is really down to the multitude of choices/options and to be fair Boyds are pretty emphatic about getting the specifications right, not a problem if you buy locally but as you have found a mess to rectify from 3,000 miles away. I was very fortunate as I was about to order one from the US myself when a pal alerted me to a clearout sale by a major importer and I got one for £96 and another for £106 delivered. I now have two Boyds which I bought locally (if you can call England local to NI) for my Remmy 222 and 308 and they were a complete success with absolutely no issues so I can vouch for their product. I do hope you get it all sorted to your satisfaction, as an afterthought what would the wrong stock have fetched if you had sold it here and just re-ordered the other?
Good luck in any event.

I mulled over just keeping the wrong one and selling it on but decided just to return it.
It has certainly been an expensive lesson and entirely my fault for not reading the small print regarding checking dimensions.
Just going to post it back to the States today which is going to be £30 odd which is on top of the £53 extra charges for vat etc.
My bargain stock is no more!
Nice pair of rifles you have which is actually the same stock I have re ordered only mine is in nutmeg.

No matter what you have lost out on £83.

Why not advertise it for a the price you paid or even a bit less. You won’t be out the full £83 then. Especially the £30 return post.

I thought about doing that and ended up just posting it back.
Couldn't be bothered with the hassle and the prospect that someone do what I did and buy the wrong fitment! Lol
