Cz or tikka

My T3 in 223 is great other than the magazine.
My cz527 in .17 hornet has a good feel. Bolt not as nice as T3, magazine is better, but not yet getting the same close groups as with the 223

Both are good rifles. I always find the CZ’s quite old school and a bit agricultural. That said, they do shoot well. The Tikka is more modern and smoother IMO.

I have Tikka T3s in 22-250 and 243 and a CZ527 in 22 hornet
The CZ is fine, but if Tikka did a T3 in 22 hornet, the CZ would be gone in a minute
The Tikka is a much smoother action and better trigger and the high bolt lift on the CZ is a PITA and a knuckle cruncher for scopes with big eyebells or with an NV add-on fitted.
I actually had to modify the bolt handle on the CZ to get it to clear the rangefinder on my 008LRF
My CZ has the single set trigger, but I was looking at a new CZ527 in 204 ruger the other week and it did not have a set trigger.
Wait for the Tikka

Cheers

Bruce
How did you have the CZ bolt handle modified and by whom?

If you want a rifle that you can pimp with an aftermarket stock etc., go for the Tikka. If you are looking for a good horse of a rifle, CZ fits the bill.

Comparing different cartridges in two different rifles isn't exactly scientific though . My experience is having owned both and shot many others rifles . Tikka and cz you cannot honestly put a fag paper between them as brands . If it was a rim headspacing cartridge like tge hornet or rimfire my money would go on the cz though , thats backed up of course by rf benchrest comps and tge sales popularity

Chassis systems are very hard to come by
Are they now ? Not something I have looked into but as there are firms specialising in cz laminate stocks i suppose they will come Tikka are far more popular when it comes to creed and 308 or course perhaps the main market along with remmington and remmington clones in that field at present

you are correct I have not compared Tikka/CZ in the same calibre, I have owned a CZ 17 HMR and do own a CZ 17 hornet. The CZ feed is clunky compared with the Tikka. CZ shoots well just wish it was a smooth action.

I have a 527 in .223. It's practically a mini-Mauser action, and shoots superbly as well as being very nicely-built. No experience with Tikkas, but from my experience nobody could be disappointed in a CZ. I have the set trigger adjusted so it acts as a standard trigger, and it still breaks cleanly at around 3lb. Superb rifles

The action improves with age. Mine is smooth enough, but it has had a number of years to get smoother.
Personally I would unless there’s some other reason why not prefer a scaled action to a one fits all.
I have both Sako and CZ small actions. The Sako is nicer but I am in no rush to sell either.
I have said I’m other posts I am looking at going for a Sauer 202 in the 223 bolt face. However the reasoning behind that is the switch barrel option. Along with the “one gun” as I have one in larger cartridges.

So I would have the CZ out of the two. Unless I was going to replace all my rifles with T3’s I don’t see the point of having the larger action.

Tikka T3 is a sportorized Sako TRG sniper rifle.
CZ is a slightly modified M98.

I prefer the Tikka.
But if you want a big bore.. get a CZ 550 Magnum before they are all gone.

You could argue that the CZ is a sporterized sniper rifle. Just from an earlier era :coat:
I agree that the 550 magnum is a good choice though.

Not really possible to compare unless your on very similar cartridges 308 and 7-08 say but you won't get a 17 with a rimmed case to feed like a modern case designed around full auto feed .
The cz being controld round feed is a very reliable system and unlike many will feed upside down ( kind of handy on dangerous game )

Thats a gaint leap to say the least ! Its like saying the round action , push feed rifles are all remmington 700 😆 anyhow both sako and the different company made a better product before Berretta group bough them both and stopped the competition that brougnt the evolution of the sporting rifle on so far
