Not really so now in the past definitely, after hitting America thier outdated designs have totally changed thats a good few years ago now in the pastBoth are good rifles. I always find the CZ’s quite old school and a bit agricultural. That said, they do shoot well. The Tikka is more modern and smoother IMO.
How did you have the CZ bolt handle modified and by whom?I have Tikka T3s in 22-250 and 243 and a CZ527 in 22 hornet
The CZ is fine, but if Tikka did a T3 in 22 hornet, the CZ would be gone in a minute
The Tikka is a much smoother action and better trigger and the high bolt lift on the CZ is a PITA and a knuckle cruncher for scopes with big eyebells or with an NV add-on fitted.
I actually had to modify the bolt handle on the CZ to get it to clear the rangefinder on my 008LRF
My CZ has the single set trigger, but I was looking at a new CZ527 in 204 ruger the other week and it did not have a set trigger.
Wait for the Tikka
Cheers
Bruce
There's an absolute plethora of cz aftermarket kit also from as many if not more manufacturers. If you want a rifle that you can pimp with an aftermarket stock etc., go for the Tikka. If you are looking for a good horse of a rifle, CZ fits the bill.

Comparing different cartridges in two different rifles isn't exactly scientific though . My experience is having owned both and shot many others rifles . Tikka and cz you cannot honestly put a fag paper between them as brands . If it was a rim headspacing cartridge like tge hornet or rimfire my money would go on the cz though , thats backed up of course by rf benchrest comps and tge sales popularityMy T3 in 223 is great other than the magazine.
My cz527 in .17 hornet has a good feel. Bolt not as nice as T3, magazine is better, but not yet getting the same close groups as with the 223
Are they now ? Not something I have looked into but as there are firms specialising in cz laminate stocks i suppose they will come Tikka are far more popular when it comes to creed and 308 or course perhaps the main market along with remmington and remmington clones in that field at presentChassis systems are very hard to come by
you are correct I have not compared Tikka/CZ in the same calibre, I have owned a CZ 17 HMR and do own a CZ 17 hornet. The CZ feed is clunky compared with the Tikka. CZ shoots well just wish it was a smooth action.Comparing different cartridges in two different rifles isn't exactly scientific though . The action improves with age. Mine is smooth enough, but it has had a number of years to get smoother.you are correct I have not compared Tikka/CZ in the same calibre, I have owned a CZ 17 HMR and do own a CZ 17 hornet. You could argue that the CZ is a sporterized sniper rifle. Just from an earlier eraTikka T3 is a sportorized Sako TRG sniper rifle.
CZ is a slightly modified M98.
I prefer the Tikka.
But if you want a big bore.. get a CZ 550 Magnum before they are all gone.

Not really possible to compare unless your on very similar cartridges 308 and 7-08 say but you won't get a 17 with a rimmed case to feed like a modern case designed around full auto feed .you are correct I have not compared Tikka/CZ in the same calibre, I have owned a CZ 17 HMR and do own a CZ 17 hornet. My Tikka T3 has an enclosed top, so rounds won't fall out of action if upside down. The cz being controld round feed is a very reliable system and unlike many will feed upside down ( kind of handy on dangerous game )
But could sideways, the fact is one is push feed the other is controlled feedMy Tikka T3 has an enclosed top, so rounds won't fall out of action if upside down.![]()
Thats a gaint leap to say the least ! Its like saying the round action , push feed rifles are all remmington 700Tikka T3 is a sportorized Sako TRG sniper rifle.
