Yes my renewal letter also said so and I have been called twice by the firezrms department as they nad still not
received it, and to chase it up .A.S..A.P.
Should be sorted now though

The trouble with Medcert as I see it is that when I looked on their sight it says they will complete and return usually with in three days of receiving your medical records but it says it can take up to thirty days for them to get your medical records.
The renewel letter says it must be completed and returned to them with in twenty one days, thats why firearms have
Firearms have been in contact twice for me to chase it up ad they had not received it in that time frame.
I have no issue with optaining a Doctors letter norbthe cost my practice only charges £30 nor do I have an issue with the
Police my issue is with the Medical practice believe it had been done now now ( no actual proof of that yet will contact
Firearms on Monday) believe that was eight weeks yesterday the letter was deposited at the medical practice.

my brother in berkshire paid £45 ,i on the other hand i live in oxfordshire and have been told its £65 plus vat and the cost will increase by a minimum of 10% each year.

There is clearly a lot of objection to paying for a medical form, and I'm not trying to stir the pot, but why are we as a group (FAC Holders) so against paying? I paid £25 so I'm not too concerned, others have paid 4x that or more. The payment is only every five years so that reduces the yearly cost. If I was a member of a shooting club, I could pay £135 every year plus an attendance fees and might consider that to be acceptable to carry out my hobby/past-time activities.

I am not in the medical profession :)

Just curious that is all.

Medcert works if you are organised and don't leave it till the last minute. My gp took the full 28 days to release my records and then Medcert turn it round in a couple of days.

I phone my FEO to explain there would be a delay and she was very helpful in fact enough me to spread the word to fellow shooters.

no objection to paying a reasonable an consistent fee. I do object to being asked for £250 when a neighbour practice does it for free

I sort of agree with paying (although its a measure for public safety so should be covered by the public purse but thats not for discussion now) but i do disagree with paying every 5 years.

I spoke to Sussex when they implemented this last year and asked that surely we now pay once for the GP to add the marker and to say there is nothing currently preventing me from having an FAC or SGC and that if my medical circumstances change they will notify the police. Sussex Police agreed this was the case so I then asked if that meant I wont need to get a GP letter in 5 years time as you now know the marker was added to my medical record and if I had been to the GP and anything was different or a concern then they would have notified you? The reply was "well we don't actually know if the GP will do any of that and maybe just tick the form anyway so we will ask every renewal to ensure it is done" WTF!!!

I'm not against paying not in the least what angers me is the lack of clarity and consistency
I was £30 for mine not a big deal considering some have been charged in excess of £200.
We are not required to pay on renewal in Scotland according to some yet my renewal letter stated quite clearly no Doctors letter would mean no certificate.
Letter stated Doctor must reply with in 21 days I am now 8 weeks in think it was done 2 days a go though I have no confirmation of that as yet.
That was after being promted twice by the police to get my Doctor to hurry it up, the police won't contact your mrdical
Practice if your Doctor doesn't respond you must do it first time I contacted them after the police prompting after the 21 days I was told the Doctor will do it when he sees fit.

This not a hobby for me it's work no certificate no work

Yes I get that, but medcerts 28days don't tie in with my Firearms Departments 21 days max responce
Not Medcert at fault but again Doctors failing to comply with Firearms Licensings 21 days response requirement.

My practice recently charged me £40.00. Not bad, as they need check my history, then add a marker, plus send letter on to police.
Hopefully, now that's done it could be easier next renewal. They certainly don't make renewing easy at all. But it's done now.
