Best electronic fox call?

i started with a cheap Chinese copy of an icotec
then changed to a 'IcoTec Hellion' i think ive shot more foxes using the first one lol
about £65 off ebay

With modern thermal spotters and NV scopes I can’t really see the need for a caller but I’ve got foxes on tap here around chicken unit .

I’ve got the icotec and I love it, but I have serious doubts about it calling foxes in, I can think of just 2 occasions where I’ve thought ‘that’s coming in to the caller’ ive sat and watched many tens, no hundreds of foxes completely ignore it, ive also seen a few run a country mile when they hear it, so whilst I take it and set it out, I think it’s a more a conscious reassurance than a help.

If you've got problems like that, you've probably got someone in your area who has been misusing his caller. Down here in mid-Devon, the terrain is so hilly and covered with undergrowth that without an effective caller, you wouldn't shoot many.

It’s probably me 😳 I have only been using it 12 months, on 3 farms 40-45 minutes apart with the same results on all of them

I have an Icotec 350 and rate it. I have seen the same thing but it’s all down to the call you are running not the unit. Best Fox call guys sent me an updated card with more U.K. focused calls for mine, since then no problem. Original list of calls had things like Bison matting and Wolf Distress howl and they’re not all that useful in Bedfordshire

Yes I changed my calls before I used it, it came with lots of American calls.

I have a Foxpro and it's the best bit of kit I have ever bought , wouldn't be without it. In fact I wouldnt shoot any foxes at all if it wasnt for the caller. Dont know how you've only seen 2 coming in as I've seen hundreds , often very quickly. I wouldn't go out without it as it is essential. Wish I had bought one when they first came out , they are brilliant in my eyes. These 8 were all called with it .... so it certainly works

yep, everyone tells me they work, ive just not seen it myself, I must be somewhere around 80 foxes this year, hand on heart ONE of those I would say was running in to the caller. guessing I must be doing something wrong with it as every other one was taken away from the caller and had been observed ignoring the caller.

Your doing nothing wrong Bob it’s just some can’t manage without artificial calling 🤭
Whats wrong with putting in the miles and hand calling 😀😀
Some lazy fellas about that want a fox to land on their laps before doffing the safety catch 😉

what we are finding up here is the dog boys are driving around in vans with the lurcher crosses ,find a likely spot then they call when one comes in they slip the dogs on it, so if they dont get it that is one educated fox , so i play a lot of out the ordinary stuff on my foxpro , another instance same area out with the mate who shoots it regular and has the lamp etc on the top, driving along daylight I see two foxes coming down the hill , he stops they stop look at the vehicle and are off lol

We've been over this before , hand calling is limited. Try cub calls or mating calls or chicken in distress on your hand .....that I would love to see 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Remember embrace technology you're always preaching 👍😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

My experience with the Foxpro is a great pice of kit, to a point, yes it will call them in, but it will also make them run a mile, so what I do is, call them with the Foxpro to about 100yds of the caller, then turn it off and use hand held callers, works for me

If you have called them into the caller surely that is the point of calling or am I missing something, they dont have to be sat next to the caller for a shot , the fact that you have pulled it into shooting distance is a result 👍

When I first started using my GC350 , it seemed to work very well, it actually managed to account for the demise of dozens of foxes, then it seemed to drop off , to the point Ive stopped using it , and just mouth squeak when I see one on the thermal.
It couldnt be the same foxes getting used to it , or associating the call with danger, as they are mostly dead, but it just seemed to lose effectiveness.

There arent too many foxes around at the moment , but I might dig it out tonight and see what happens.

Considering that the caller is virtually always within 100yds of your position, if the fox is within 100yds of the caller then it's within 200yds of you. Unless it's still beyond the boundary of your permission that's a dead fox surely ? ?
