Is BASC membership worth it?

My views are my views no more no less - irony has little to do with it, but you obviously need to 'rubbish' something which contradicts your opinion, so I'm fine with the comment signifying as it does a complete dearth of reasonable thought.
This is nothing more than 'forum speak' and, again in my view, unfit for this site.
The site you see fit to use, as Kes and now Triton without supporting it financially?.........how very spirited of you.

BASC have provided me with all i need. I have phoned on several occasions for advise and they have always been very helpful. There are a few others out there as well like BDS, SGA, SACS. If we don't use them we loose them sort of thing.

Time for a change, will give advice, but no longer the voice of most and definitely not to be trusted. Worth who knows

I think life membership of WAGBI used to be c£25. How much is BASC life membership?
BASC life membership is currently £1640.

More information on BASC membership options are here:

What year was the £25 WAGBI life membership? You can work out how that fared with BASC life membership today with this inflation calculator:

I wanted a simple question answered about the motor discounts. I phoned and asked the question, I was told, because you not a member, I can't tell you the answer! I said, but if the answer is yes, I will become a member. She said, you will have to become a member and then we can tell you the answer, if its not the answer you're looking for, you can cancel your membership and get a refund!
Honestly, no wonder the country is in the state it is!

Is it not the case that you have to have been a full member of BASC for a year before you can take advantage of such a scheme and that any discount is negotiated direct with the dealer/agent/motor trader concerned....so irrespective of what you may or may not have been told by BASC upon your initial enquiry would appear quite frankly pointless. BASC cannot anticipate what factors will influence the “global market” 12 months after your membership has been accepted, exampled at this moment by the current demand, supply and overall limited availability of new vehicles on the market. The OPs original question was about joining and taking BASC insurance and what, if any, were the additional “perks”, which I commented on at #24. Personally I have benefited very well out of the BASC motor discount scheme. I am also a member of several other shooting organisations and also take advantage of any benefits or “perks” they offer as part of the membership package. I support such organisations because that’s what I want to do.....irrespective of other persons experiences or views.

As I was a member for 6 years up until about 4 years ago, as soon as I re -start my membership the vehicle discount is applicable. I just needed a simple question answered.
In the end i got the guys email address from a friend and emailed direct, got an amswer in 5 minutes

So if you were an AA menber, would you phone the RAC because you used to belong some years ago but gave up, to help you with a problem? You chose not to be a BASC member, yet you expect them to waste their time answering your questions about vehicle discounts available to those who have chosen to be members? Astonishing.

Would you join an organisation withiut knowing what they offer?

Many years ago, when I was a member I asked how much time and how many people were involved in securing the member discounts, as I felt then as I do now they should be concentrating on protecting shooter interests not getting a few quid off a new car. Nobody knew the answer

Insurance, courses and 19% off a new hilux.

Some people seem to want organisations to fight points with no prospects of success.

Things change and you have to go with the flow. Far better to aim for the best negotiated deal you can get.

If you are unwilling to try to fight a descision that is bad for the sport how is an organisation going to be viewed by members.
