Which 2 calibres?

One for rabbits and foxes?
And one for deer?

And finally, if you had to pick one rifle for everything? Thinking of a 6.5mm Creedmoor, thoughts?

Thanks in advance (from someone about to apply for FAC)!

I faced a similar situation. I have a .22 for rabbits and close range foxes if the opportunity presents but not as a foxing rifle. A 6.5mm creedmoor for deer and for foxes but I don’t take many foxes so taking the odd one with the creedmoor works fine. If you’re after foxes a lot then a dedicated rifle is probably best as many of the best calibres are too much for general rabbiting. If forced then I’d say .17 hornet or one of those types

That’s great and confirms my thinking. Thanks

.17 centrefire for rabbits and close fox, 6.5 anything for longer distance fox and deer.

But as .22 rimfire rifles are so cheap you may as well go for 3 rifles

Are you going to reload or only be shooting factory ammo?

Are your shooting in volume for rabbits and foxes or just the odd one or two?

.22 hornet and 6.5x55 / creedmoor if you reload

.22 and .308 if you are shooting in volume and not reloading

.17hmr gives you better range for rabbits and doubles up for iclose fox
.243 for fox and deer, although I might be tempted by a 6.5 Creed these days.

I cant see for the life of me why anyone would look past a rimfire for rabbits in what ever flavour you like but the humble .22lr has accounted for more than any other and as for a deer rifle they all work so pick which ever you want

300 WM 👍🏻
You never said you wanted to eat the rabbits 😂
All jokes aside a friend told me about seeing a young muntjac doe shot with a 300WM and on gralloching all that came out was pink foam!

if I were limited to 2 calibres I would make it .223 and .308
.223 may be overkill for rabbits but gives you a lot more range over .22lr

these calibres will give you most options for both rifles and ammunition
