Bloody Boris, Hancock, Javid and the NHS

Not surprised, as when you promote an organisation to a religious level then becomes a sin to show its foibles. I have to pay until my demise a contribution into German health care as a condition to be allowed to live here presently 141 Euros it rises each year. In the UK hitting retirement equals your contributions stop and the working unwashed cover your share, I am OK with the German as I can afford it, I was given my 3rd booster two weeks ago as the jab troops descended on my local village with 150 doses to give away on a first come first served basis. Maybe as a suggestion you should abolish the NHS and start all over again? But perhaps like all govt invention it is too self serving to ever allow that.
BTW very sorry about your mums issues, it was the way a few years ago that UK in Kent anyway were sending patients over to French hospitals to get operations done as they were overloaded is that not still after Brexit an option?

My father in law is 89 years old. Lives on his own and up until a fall at home 3 weeks ago, spent all day pottering about in his garden and greenhouse.
He was found at home after suffering a fall and pulled a dressing table and TV on top of him. An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital and we were told to prepare ourselves for the worst possible outcome.
Fast forward three weeks.
Yesterday, after sitting all day in the rear of an ambulance wearing pj's and a blanket, he was taken home from the Discharge Hub.
Since the fall, he is incontinent, incoherent and constantly asking for his wife who died 20 years ago.
No one, and I mean no one, has consulted with his family and apparently, the Occupational Therapist was happy that he was discharged and father in law was happy to go home.
He does not know whether its new year or new York.
No one will speak to you, there are never any doctors who will speak to you, and despite promises, no one ever calls back.
Had I not witnessed this first hand and my wife in tears of frustration, I would not believe that people were treated as we have been.
The family, who all stay some distance from the old one, have drawn up a rota to attend whilst the "care package" whatever that is, is put into place at his home.

Well health is devolved in Wales and has been under the care of Labour for the past 20 years. If you think the health sevice is bad in England visit Wales and learn what bad really looks like! During "austerity" England and the Conservatives ring fenced health spending in Wales they cut NHS spending and blamed Westminster even though Barnett meant Wales got more money per head for health than England.

David.

Unfortunately we are in the all too common position that the minority are causing the majority the most disruption.
IF they had any sense they would deny NHS treatment to those that have chosen to decline the vaccine. The hospitals and doctors surgeries would now be well able to cope with the fewer people needing Covid treatment and would be getting through a much bigger proportion of the cancellations that so many had to accept.

What a load of bollocks so if I break my leg I can’t get treated how totally ludicrous!!! The NHS has not been coping since inception a total cesspit of mediocrity run by tools.

I voted Tory because I wanted the nhs carved up and eradicated in favour of a new system and now it’s been gifted a boat load of cash and still is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Follow up question along the lines of AT tyres, pickup truck, larder equipment or ammunition brand....

Private medical insurance... who would you recommend ?

So just to update. Mum has been sent back home, with not one but two zimmer frames. And they could not find a doctor to sign a prescription for tramadol - which is a controlled drug - so they sent her home without them - so they will send them this evening in a Taxi 25 miles out to the middle of Oxfordshire!!

There haven't been any cuts. The Tories have showered it with cash. The NHS was unfit for purpose when the Tories got in, and to be fair to Labour, it was pretty damn poor in '97
You are factually incorrect by some margin. In 11 years the Tories have removed 17K hospital beds. Fella free to research it. Before Covid every winter their were endless news stories of overwhelmed hospitals and that was just the flu. Not a great position to start fighting a pandemic

Lodge a complaint that’s disgraceful and the NHS needs to made accountable.

How many hospitals are their in the UK ? 1k maybe 2k so hardly a massive amount of beds lost and frankly if an organisation that employs a million people serving 60m crumbles because of 20k extra people then it’s well and truly fubar!!

Let us not forget Messers Johnson, Gove, Hancock and Williamson scrapped the anti-pandemic committee mere months before the c19 virus struck .

I believe the NHS is a brilliant idea, my Mother worked for the NHS her entire life. I also think it’s broken beyond repair in its present form. Every cash injection is swallowed without any improvement and this eternally ravenous beast cry’s out for another exponential increase in funding. I have some ideas on how to help but I doubt they would be considered

So they have made significant cuts as per my original point, I am glad we agree

And vaccines have exactly WHAT to do with knee/hip surgery?

So you would prevent medical care to pregnant women?

Prevent medical care to those with existing histories or allergies that cant have these vaccines?

Lets go fully private then, and stop taxing those who decline medical intervention within their rights under longstanding international law.

The wards are NOT blocked by anti-vaccine patients, btw. There is no good evidence for this and wild claims of 90% are completely unsubstantiated. It is winter, and respiratory disease is always increased. However, much better than this time last year!

The treatment of the OPs parents is disgusting, but there will be a reckoning.

Probably after another major economic event causing national bankruptcy. The waste inside the NHS is shocking, attitude stinks, and most of the ‘health’ workers I saw in hospital a few weeks ago are obese, unfit and a shocking example. In my experience, obesity has a direct correlation to laziness.

Id have no problem with a private system of insurance now.
Hospitals are taking in more unvaccinated than vaccinated patients and therefore taking staff that would usually be able to look after knee and hip patients.

So what's the plan...... anyone know? Name me anything in history were an extra 36 billion is to be spent but no plan!
If the the NHS model is so great why are we the only country in the world that operates such a healthcare system.
I am sick of hearing about saving the NHS. Its all part of the project fear that is being fed to us on a daily basis. Unfortunately it's worked on most who swallow this BS.

As for comments that unvaccinated should be denied treatment, where do you draw the line? If a doctor didn't agree with culling deer and say you severed a finger doing a gralloch would that be okay to deny treatment? It's too easy for folk to just make these sorts of stupid comments because unvaccination does not fit their narrative.
