Pulsar c50

I noticed the Sumlight is ON too - Thad significantly degrades the image and looking at the C50’s user manual, Pulsar suggest using it without IR but also say it will degrade the image and cause blurring on moving images.

That I didn’t know. That said the manual is still in the plastic bag in the cardboard box. I tend to walk and stalk (which is what I was doing when this video was taken) so the sum light seems useful for this. The image through the scope was good enough for shooting and then some regardless.

have you not had a chance to get out yet ,
No Dave, just been so busy... I will this week though
I can't help thinking some people are desperate to not like it for some reason. All I can say is I have the pulsar n970 and pard 008 both of which I was happy with. However I now have the c50 and it's in a different league in every respect. Watch as many YouTube videos as you want, proof is in the pudding. Some people won't be convinced no matter what.
Absolutely mate....

Cheers Steve

I’d heard of twilight mode but not the Sum bit

Wouldn’t be an option up here for deer in jockland unless change current legislation .

I don’t think it’s a case of not wanting to like it, on the contrary if you claim it’s in a different league to others then that’s a good thing for everybody, let’s face it, us shooters arent afraid of spending money!
To say it’s in a different league is quite a statement because it’s widely accepted that the latest crop of digital nv is much of a muchness, you pays your money you takes your choice, some like the traditional design of the ATN 4K, some like the weight and compactness of the 008 and so on, performance wise they are on a par it will need to be something special to reach that elevated position. The previous Digex was touted as a game changer because of its scope styled design and it didn’t need much illumination and ended up being extremely fussy, you dismiss YouTube footage but that particular issue is glaringly (excuse the pun) obvious when you look at the videos.

Regarding video playback, for some people it’s an important part of the package, for some it’s never ever used,
some like to post on YouTube channels, some just like to record and watch it back with their mates at work etc, personally I record everything I shoot, some goes on the net, most goes to landowners with great feedback received when I nail a problem fox or munty, or a night on the rabbits, it just underlines the valuable job you are doing.
The other bonus of doing this is you can playback any misses out in the field and track the cross hairs movement as the shot is taken, helps remind you it’s not always the gun!

This thread and the footage so far on YouTube demonstrates the C50 is seriously lacking in playback quality in comparison to others, for most that won’t be a deal breaker, for some it will be before even looking through it.

Has anybody mounted a C50 on a Blaser R8 yet and can tell me if the standard scope mounts work for eye relief or does it need more positioning to the rear like the Thermion scopes require?

Standard Blaser mounts need high rings and maybe the spacers as well to overcome the lump under the scope. That said you won’t get the correct eye relief as standard Blaser mounts are designed to 4” ish of eye relief and the C50 needs 2”.

Best bet is a Innomount Blaser Thermion mount like this:-

Yes .

I opted for Vortex precision 30mm High Scope Rings

below are some pics and measurements to help you work out what you need , hope this is of use to you buddy .

The first pic is the very end of objective

The second is the day/night ring and focus ring which is the widest part

The third is just how it sits.

Everything in MM

Just so you are aware there is the bulge of about 6-7mm on the C50 that protrudes below the line of the 30mm tube. Any rings you use will need this amount of clearance between the rail and the scope tube.
