Anybody know where i can send a head to be measured? Im in somerset area so if local could drive it to them,
Iv used an online formula but i must be measuring something wrong as its coming in with 75 points?!
Gold threshold is 61?? I believe?
Although hes a big boy iv seen bigger but would like to somebody who knows they are doing to confirm either way and tell me how i cocked up the measuring (if i did)
He went 36.6lb whole weight, 28.2lb larder weight, iv shot small framed 6 point bucks at these sort of weights so a good solid old boy
Thanks in advance

Would be interested to see he when he has been cleaned. I was told you can't measure them correctly with the skin on.

CIC Tony Dalby-WelshSenior International Trophy Judge - Somerset. Needs to be cleaned and needs to have dried for 30 days
I didn’t think muntjac were scored on weight?

Just looked and sure enough prepped and cleaned, dried for 30 days. Nothing to do with weight though!

Yes spoke to my local one via email and as it turns out hes only a 20 minute drive so happy days.
He did confirm it needs to be cleaned and prepped for 30 days so thats the next job

Looks to be a sliver contender but pics are never great .Stick a tape from coronet to point on the outside then the span from tip to tip .Might just be another dog chew .

Who measured your mounted heads for you.
And which species were they.
I’ve had several muntjac measured by CIC over the years, including one that had been shoulder-mounted prior to measurement. Never any question of not being able to measure them with the skin on. Has the red book criteria changed at all?

I can understand that with roe, given that skull weight is such an important factor when scoring, but not sure why it would matter for muntjac?

Any chance you could send his email via PM please, can’t be far from you and have a couple of heads measured B15EC268-D6E9-49D2-86EF-4A8FD9558F29.webp

Coronet to tip is 11cm and 11.7cm for the other, tip to tip is 10.6cm
Curious more than anything what he makes, lv seen another notibly bigger in same area, played cat and mouse for a good while so earned him and a good memory

There seems to be some confusion the measurement of tip to tip is no longer being used. The measurement is inside the spread between the main beams.20220308_112227.webp
