Over the last 10 years, I've built quite a few NV and thermal roof spotters using various pan and tilt systems including those based on wired and wireless remote searchlights, full scale cctv pan and tilt units, wired and wireless hague battery powered pan and tilts and I honestly think the Zifon is far and way the best pan and tilt unit for a thermal roof mounted spotter that I have found so far.
My Defender had a lightforce handle through the roof, wired direct to a screen using a video phono connector. The device has its own power source so doesn't need a power cable... It also has a bluetooth remote for operation and LRF.
I can scan rapidly while driving at all angles, and aim on the target while driving to pick up.. it's very responsive just like a lamp handheld roof setup..

to be honest i did it the wrong way around, i bought the hik tq50c as it did everything i wanted, then put it up against my pals pulsar and infiray and the hik came out best out of all of them. so i was even happier. but even if it wasn't i wouldn't have moaned too much as there are not many on the market that can do a scope, spotter and a front add on!

Better than a Thermion 2 XP50 ? The Hik is very good value for money without doubt and I'd rather own one over a Rico, but testing alongside over a long duration and various weather.....its not as good as a T2 XP50 which is the equivalent 640 sensor, obviously the Pulsar is a lot more cash also but it's considerably better allround.... don't get me wrong I like both products..
The Senopex A5 models are better than all of the 50mm 640 units for long range image and detail...and they are a 384 unit at £2.5k... They are not as good under 80yds as a Thermion 2 XP50 or TQ50, meaning the overall higher resolution image from these units, but past this, they are better and sharper in detail.. T2 XP50 is still the NETD king of everything I have used to this date....grass and the smallest background terrain detail is visible in the worst of UK weather...
