Has the 6mm Creedmoor much following in the UK, or is everybody just going to the 6.5CM?

Hornady use RL-16 in their 108gr match ammo. I’ve got a tub, but not got around to trying it yet. RS62 is what I currently use with good results. RL-17 may be better in a shorter barrel perhaps, but going by what others say, it’s harsher on the barrel.

The attached is factory Hornady 108gr. Bottom target is 3 shots

Where did you find good load data, and what powder did you opt for in the end? In mine, I’m looking to run 108gr ELD-M and am keen to find the best powder. It seems that H4350 and RL15/17 are popular in the states, but I haven’t found much availability and definitely want to find something I can repeat buy fairly easily!

Hi Ben,

Hornady have some good data (see below), there is also some data on the Vihtavuori website. I opted to Viht as its very temperature stable and easy for me to get hold of, Hornady don’t list Viht powders so I just compared burn rates to find the best match Viht have to offer and worked up from there. I have a 26” barrel on mine and get on very well with N160 and the 103gr eld-x bullet, I’m loading just over 44gr of powder and getting almost 100% powder burn. I think this would also be a great powder for the 108gr eld-m as well.
What barrel length are you shooting?

I run a 1:8 twist .243 with a 26 inch Bartlein barrel with 70 gr Nosler bt it's a point and shoot job to 300 yards. recently it has been my go to Foxing rifle, prefer it to my 6.5 CM

Just wondering about rebarreling my 243 Heym at some point. It still shoots well. Just questioning whether 6mm CM would be better than a faster twist 243 (ie better with longer copper bullets) or just go to 6.5 CM. However I do shoot 7mm so 6.5 is really quite similar. I suppose real benefit of going to a faster twist 243 is that I don't need any form of variation etc.

If you're happy with one of their offerings, not sure they do 6cm, I ordered a factory pre-fit from Heym once it was paid for it took three weeks and cost E330ish. stainless or blued available

No problem! I’m currently running the 103gr ELD-X at 3178fps average over 10 shots with no pressure signs and an SD of 7.8fps also over 10 shots. I would say you will easily get 3000+fps with the 108gr ELD-M.
Very accurate too, they seem to like being around 50 thou off the lands.

I have 400 new starline 6.5 creedmoor but only a bushing die

Hence the trip down to the countryman. Who are cheaper than wildcat

The bonus is the head stamp will be correct.

The starline might go in the classifieds as I have buckets of 6.5 Lapua.

I have both and they are completely different animals. The PRC shooting 147g ELDM has more energy at 350m than the 6mm CM has at the muzzle shooting 108g ELDM. The PRC has some recoil but the 6mm CM is simply a pleasure to shoot.
