Peregrine Monolithics will soon be available in a full range of CIP proofed Factory Ammunition.

Premium non-lead hunting and target bullets from South Africa.
CNC machined copper projectiles with a unique brass plunger to aid expansion down to comparitively low terminal velocities.

Running in the rifling on very fine rings the bullets produce a higher velocity potential than bullets with removed material grooves, enabling faster powders and shorter barrels to be used to produce the same velocity expected from much longer barrels.
Imagine a 136gr .308 pushing 3000fps from a 20” barrel.

The VLR4 is the standard spitzer profile offering already available in .17-.50 cal component form and has been proven to be very accurate and extremely effective on UK game species.

The VRG3 profile is similar to a round nose profile and with its short length has answered the “Scottish Question” of a non lead 100gr .243 round that stabilises in a standard 1:10” twist of a .243
Also the same question for 50gr .222 and .22-250 1:14” twist barrels

Yes
The 7RM 140gr could easily be stoked up to 36-3700fps in a standard 22-24” barrel
But there is genuinely no benefit from running monolithics beyond 32-3300
They can and will break up and become less progressive in their expansion causing massive secondary wound channels from the fragments and decreasing carcase quality

The only reason to run them faster is if tou want to use them as a vermin round and get them to break up

The 17 Hornet is an example
They are devastating and in SA they have taken warthog and small deer species with them
But messy!

The hornet looks insanely fast virtually the same bullet weight at as Hornady lead factory but coming in about 500fps faster.

Pity I am so far south I will have to see if my RFD can ship some in from you.

Significantly less friction.
The rings are the only aspect of the shank that are groove diameter.
The rest of the shank is at land diameter (depending on barrel! Some are tighter than others, see recovered bullet above)

Lower starting pressure (measured as low as 75kg linear force to “slug barrel”, vs. 125-150kg.)
Much less deformation required to engage lands.
Lower heat transfer into barrel.


In tests we have used powder that is one/two or even three burn rates faster than usual to deliver velocities that have not been possible with removed material groove designs.

The example is a .308 136gr in a 20” barrel pushing close to 3000fps (2975fps measured at 12deg) with N133
With no pressure signs
We backed that off slightly to ensure it was well under PMax for the cartridge at any temperature/elevation

I dont think much of the bunny will be edible after being hit by one of these even a head shot would be iffy. Normal hornet rounds are bad enough

bullets look good, but for the 17hornet probably going to be an expensive bunny bashed.
