Hi guys my dog is getting hammered by ticks , what are you guys finding the best too help keep them off the dog? Cheers in advance Donk 👍

Bravecto, superb, our spaniel was covered in ticks, got her on the bravecto and not a single one for 7 months, noticed one on here the other day and got her back in for her next dose!

Fantastic stuff.

Brilliant thank you 👍

Just my tuppence, and every dog is individual, but I remain convinced that Bravecto led to epilitic sezieures in my current Hungarian Vizsla. She's my second rescue dog out of 5 Vizslas we have been fortunate to own and the Vizsla rescue organization recommended Bravecto. I read up before hand and, whilst paricularly the US has strong evidence to support this effect such that the FDA forced the maunufacturer to add specific warnings, that is not replicated in the UK. There are many satisfied users in the UK without issues and it is really easy and clean to dose but I took a chance despite my apprehension and will never use it again.

Since those 3 fits and immediately stopping using Bravecto, she has never had another fit!

Yes I have read similar about it. Will not give it to my two HWVs for that reason. Many may use it with no side effects but never risking it with my dogs. I use a spot on type of flea and tick treatment. Works well most of the time, I don’t expect it to be foolproof so check my dog regularly. I did so yesterday after a work party on the shoot and lo and behold a tick on the chest of one of them. Whip out the little green tool and it’s removed. Jobs a good un. Not a great photo but you get the idea.

Also as an add to the above some of the guys went for an early morning stalk on our shoot before the work party, one shot a Munty Buck that was covered in ticks so maybe there’s going to be a lot about this year.

Surely you'll still be getting ticks on your dog. I thought Bravecto only kills them once they start feeding. It doesn't actually stop them getting on the dog it just reduces the time they are there.

We saw a few on the deer recently .Mate of mines a tick magnet whilst I usually get away with it .Bravecto for me too ,not personally on the dogs 🤙🏼

Took a roe buck on Monday that was positively alive with the little buggers. From good sized latched on ones to the microscopic little black ones. 😬

Not based on the number she had before that.
But she's either getting plenty of ticks and the product is killing them off before you notice them or she's not getting any ticks. There is nothing in Bravecto or Nexgard that stops ticks going onto the dog, for these products to actually work the dog needs ticks to feed.

My spaniel is Lemon and White and no matter what product she has been on she always gets ticks on her when hunting in bracken. The good thing is ticks on her are easy to spot and most can be removed before they latch on. The ones I have missed and have latched on have died off pretty quickly when I've used either Bravecto or Nexgard.

Ticks need to feed first! That simply isn't true a week after application.
Ticks will get onto the dog, crawl about and drop of.
Likewise bravecto nor any other tick treatment causes fits, but if the dog has genetic epileptic predisposition, the treatments can trigger fits.

defo bravecto would be my first choice. 2nd choice which ive used with good results is advantix dosent last as long as bravecto but still very affective.
