What To Do With This Head?

Should have left the eyes in when you were boiling the head - always guaranteed to make Mrs Gunn scream when she sees those swilling around sink after I empty the saucepan ;)

For extra fun, then fish them out and do some Marty Feldman impersonations with them.

I prefer this approach myself....Mrs CD never impressed at my somewhat skewed attempt at humour ! 😏

Rather than another thread, what strength Hydrogen Peroxide to purchase and from where please? All the stuff available to consumers is a max 12% solution which seems lightweight. Anything stronger only sold to businesses and with MSDS paperwork.

Thanks

12% is fine 'K'. I simply prop the skull in a pan and pour liberally over (avoiding splashing the antlers) maybe a dozen or so times. Some suggest soaking a flannel in peroxide and wrapping around the skull. I find my way works well....whiter than white skull every time !
Hope this helps.

Difficult to tell from the photo but might be worth a measure for a medal. But definitely worth boiling out and getting on the wall.

Not worried about how it might score but will be nice to have it around as a reminder of the stalk and that it was successfully called during the rut which, as we all know, is cheating!

I never really noticed the smell, it wasn’t as nice as a stew but didn’t stink the house out and caused me no drama with SWMBO. But it was the mess in the kitchen ( who knew brains were greasy?) and hassle of getting all the bits off- especially with younger bucks where the pedicles are closer together.

I don’t keep all my heads, especially when in velvet, but all mine that I do keep go to ‘Ironmatt’ on here. He lives close by me which makes it easy but you can post them to him.

He’s a friendly and interesting chap and great to see a new start-up by a young person in our field of interest. He does a far better job than I could for a reasonable price, and they come back immaculate.

Here’s the last couple he did.

Only complaint would be the jet washing and bleaching of the cornonets

My pal asked me the “what should I do with this head“ only yesterday! I know what I would do with it and exactly where on my wall I would hang it - which probably is a bit of a clue……
