Bargain rifle.

Being a shooter in my as a Community Police officer calls me "Twilight years" cheeky ..std and yes he was shown the door, I bought what I thought was a bargain a 2021 CZ ,223 M1P American19" barrel it also has a mod fitted only shot 5 rounds I went 125 miles for it, the reason the guy sold it ,it was too light I think he was referring to the cal. for me .223 is comfortable, I did have a slot for .243 but nothing on my perm warrants that so never bought one and I shoot at a club, whilst in the area 2 birds for 1 stone adage I picked up a Mossberg 500 Hushpower pump action with spare 28" barrel another good low shot gun in as new condition ,I'm going to use that on my perm as my daughter has 2 old horses ,by their paddock a nice oak spinney where Pigeons and Rooks roost., I do like to buy private you get to meet the seller/owner get the nitty gritty without the sales BS , the 2 guys yesterday made the transactions a pleasure to deal with so very happy.

I hope you enjoy your CZ. By the way the standard CZ 5 shot mag also fits and feeds just fine. Mossberg pumps are great.

Love the Mossberg 500 in either moderated or standard barrel. I will have another one, one day. Beats the Remington Wingmaster for sheer practicality, if not looks! I want one of those, too!

I did get the Mossberg 35" long that came with a spare 28" barrel so going out tomorrow to have a swing.I mentioned about the 308 , he said they are not keen in Gloucester Firearms so I wish you good luck.atb

The first rule with Gloucestershire firearms is to not take no for an answer. They often say no, they do it to me all the time. I think they just like to test how much you need it because if you keep pushing, eventually they'll let you have it.

The best way I have found is to present your case. Write a letter saying why you need it, why what you've already got won't do the job etc. As long as you've got a bit of firearm experience behind you, that does the trick. I have noticed that they're not all that accommodating for new shooters. They like a lot of proof of experience before allowing the bigger cartridges. That's not always easy to achieve but I've worked on it with a couple of people in the past and we got there eventually.

That's a great price , and a cool little rifle . A good friend of mine purchased a used Model 7 KS in 350 RM about two years ago . He paid almost $ 2000 CDN for it , he could make a nice profit if he sold it today . It's a very accurate , but unpleasant to shoot , rifle . Yours is a perfect woods walking unit , very nice .

That's a great price , and a cool little rifle . A good friend of mine purchased a used Model 7 KS in 350 RM about two years ago . He paid almost $ 2000 CDN for it , he could make a nice profit if he sold it today . It's a very accurate , but unpleasant to shoot , rifle . Yours is a perfect woods walking unit , very nice .

Thanks njc, I will explain that I want it for target shooting and big deer species, including boar in woods and want to use non-toxic but heavy bullets, hence .30 cal. I already have 6.5x55 for everything else (my last remaining centrefire, since I sold most of my guns after a divorce), so I wonder if that will be a problem? I have DSC1 and 12 years experience, land cleared for .308, recent guided stalking evidence and live in the Forest of Dean, which is boar country. Will that be enough? I miss Wiltshire where I could visit and have a chat with a knowledgeable FEO and have a variation on the same day!

Going by that it really shouldn't be an issue. You already have a deer cartridge so you're not stepping up from what they would consider a small centrefire. You're merely crossing the minimum of .270 threshold for the boar - something that according to guidelines, your current rifle isn't suitable for.

make sure you read and understand the circumstances for shooting those birds under the OGL before proceeding with lythal control . Just because a bird is listed isnt the full tale today
