New Home Larder installation (Warning - terrible display of DIY skills)

Update on progress over the last week or two…

Larder almost up and running - final touches are some more sealanting, waste drainage for sinks, shelves and then a thorough deep clean and scrub of everything!

Looks superb. Actually I was going to post a thread on here as I'm trying to make my 'larder' area better. I currently have a Landig fridge for the carcasses but need a better prep area. The issue I find it lifting a carcass into the Landig from when I've initially hung the animal once I've got back back home. The roof beams are not really up to hanging a big animal and then tugging on the thing whilst skinning! So I've been looking into some form of scaffolding to take the hoist. The challenge is making the scaffolding meet the fridge easily without a gap! Any advice would be welcome!

Check out @Tim.243 he has made a decent A frame set up in his larder, might give you some pointers.

excellent, I have a similar setup

One thought re hot water. I bought a movement operated over sink hot water heater, it stops you getting blood all over the tap handle

s

Here's mine just have to install water once weather breaks but house is only 15m away so bowls and wash up in kitchen

Do you have a link to the heater you bought please.

Sounds like a great idea.

And finally, after nearly 8 months of planning, waiting, saving money, delays, it’s all finished.

I have relied on the kindness of friends for cheap labour and Mrs RS who has been a total saint in allowing me to repurpose a huge proportion of the garage.

Now to get some beasts hanging in the chill and let the butchery commence!!

Many thanks to @Freeforester, @lochty, @VSS, @Woodsmoke (dearly departed) and others who offered advice and assistance along the way!

Are your fly traps zappers or UV ? If zappers be mindful they spew out fly debris but you can swap out to UV if that’s the case sorry not trying to tell how to suck eggs .

The larder looks fantastic, that’s a lot of sweat and tears right there, built my own back in spring/summer so appreciate your sterling work 👍💪
