What’s everyone’s view on .17 hmr weihrauch HW60j?

My ticket has finally arrived and I’m looking at the purchase of my first .17HMR.

Looking at pros and cons, and or anything I need to look out for and any issues I should be aware of.

Thanks in advance

I have shot one and really liked it.

They seem to be in the middle quality and brand wise- above the CZs but below Anshultz.

Nice triggers. Small magazines from memory maybe 4 rounds ?

I like them.

I had one a few years ago. Mine was superb. All steel , solid construction well finished and extremely accurate. For me it felt and handled far better than a mates anchutz 17. Super slick bolt
4round mag annoyed me though so I did a bit of work on the mag follower so it would hold five.
Fitted it with a pecar champion 12x45 pa adjustable scope. Really regret getting rid of it when the ammo quality took a nosedive a few years ago

Not bad rifles from what I've heard, I've never owned one though. I looked into one many years ago and reviews were positive, but I ended up just getting a CZ and spending the change on ammo!

I have one in 22 hornet and it’s faultless and very very accurate, the good enough for me

really nice rifle, the mag it came with held on to couple of rounds so I got a another, put the original in to get it ever so slightly re aligned and it now works perfectly, nothing not to like really, really decent bit of kit

Awesome gun - lovely trigger and properly built

I had a missfire = blockage = and then shot again without realising the barrel was blocked.
The gun stood all that pressure and i suffered no injury thanks God and that guns construction - and the proof house

I have one. They are a lovely wee rifle. Best trigger that I have come across.

I am giving up rifle shooting, due to eyesight issues, so mine will be up for sale. Let me know if you want pics.

Steve.

Had one in 22 Hornet, accurate, light, short and a very crisp two stage trigger similar to the Anschutz 1417. Quite hardy too. I would say it's a solid choice.

Got one in .22lr, very well made and accurate, fantastic trigger. Only complaint would be weak ejection of spent cases but it's fixable. Not sure if that is an issue in other calibres.

As others have said it's a lovely well made rifle.

The only downside I had with mine was the lack of aftermarket parts for it. I had to get a custom picatinny rail made to swap NV on which wasn't cheap. No adjustable stocks made for it and limited spare parts or replacement bits and those you can find are expensive etc.

If you plan on using it as it is without wanting to change anything then it's great and you will no doubt love it, if however you like to customise your rifles or want to use picatinny rings or have an adjustable stock then you'd be better off with a Tikka T1X or CZ where there is an abundance of aftermarket accessories.

I have a Weihrach HW60J in 17 HMR. It is a great gun. I shoot Anschutz and Sako's also and the HW60J is definitely in that group. Great bluing, build quality and trigger. As for getting aftermarket parts to change or customise a gun if that's what you want to do get a Ruger 10/22 or go full custom with a 17 HMR build. The HW60J is pretty much ready to shoot without all that messing around. As for a picatinny rail they are about 70 pounds from Britannia rails here in Lincolnshire or about five other online retailers under different names. Works well holding my NV on the HW60J. Just google it.

Wow, that’s pretty crazy
