I'm not expecting loads of firings from them, but when they are free and plentiful I'm not going to complain. I only use my 6.5CM for Stalking anyway so they'll last me a good while
The bullet is the most expensive part @25p
Primer is 8p
Either CFE or lately RS40 at around 12p a round.
Theres sundry items like lube, electric for the cleaning ect.
Like I say, I've never bought any brass for 223.

That’s quite cheap for a 50 gr v-max but have just found them on the internet at that so will stock up as they’re my go to bullet for the .223AI, thanks.
Based on that then and a quick search on t’internet, excluding brass costs 50 gr v-max in .223 can be loaded for 50-55p a round. 95 gr v-max can be loaded in creedmoor for around 31-35p more.
I have a 6.5 creedmoor and currently use 127gr LRX and 143gr ELD-X for deer.
I’m going to start doing a bit more fox shooting at night. I could either load some 95gr V-Max and just keep using my 6.5, or buy a .223.
Does anyone have experience with the 95g V-Max or any other fox loads in 6.5 creedmoor? Is there any particular advantage of using a .223 over a 6.5 with suitable bullet?
No advantage at all other than slightly less noise and recoil, I’ve shot lots of fox etc. with 85 gr sierras out of A 6.5 creedmoor doing 3400 fps and lots of foxes with 50 gr v-max out of a .223 AI doing 3350 fps.
Foxes don’t know the difference!
your decision may come down to optics, if you are lampung no issue, if you want to use dedicated NV then another rifle is the obvious choice. For an add on unit you need a suitable scope which your current scope for day use may not be.

Ive found the 95 g vmax for £36 per hundred, it uses nearly twice the powder of the 223 , so about 30p worth of Vhit 550
Primer again 7-8 p (I paid less a while back , but I know theyve gone up) say 10 firings on the brass (at least) and we are about there for 80-85p a shot , which I dont think is bad.
If youre going for a 140 /143 ELD stick another 10p on for the bullet.
