Had my Alpex for about 8 months and love it. May have a problem with the battery…..on 2 occasions now the battery is flat!…The first time I may have left it in standby..the 2nd time I am sure I powered it down. Also, I have enabled auto power off in settings. I will be very careful that I power it down next time but just wondered if anyone has had the same experience? I’ll send it back under warranty if it needs attention. Thanks.

Please would you tell me what ring height you are using ie, low, medium or high and what clearance you have between your barrel and the ocular.

Hi, Hawke tactical, 30mm, high. You might get away with medium depending on your barrel profile and eye position.

I had the same with mine. An update to the latest firmware seemed to resolve the problem

Sorry to hijack another thread-just bought a Alpex -zeroed today ,how long does the battery last if left on constant ? And can it be charged via 12 volts in car or only 240 mains only ?

About 6-8 hours, but using the standby mode (short press of the power button to engage and another short press to disengage) will extend battery run time
You should have received a USB cable which can be connected to any USB charger or powerbank
So a USB charger that pugs into 12volts (or a USB connector already in the vehicle) will do the job and a USB charger that plugs into 240 volts will work just as well.
It can also be charged from a 5 volt powerbank, and because most gun cabinets don't have an electricity supply, using a powerbank to charge the scope when it's put into the gun cabinet means it will be fully charged when you take it out - simples

Mine is on low hawke qr Picatinny mounts fits my sako A1 with contessa rail and cz with russan rail with a few mm between objective and barrel

Make sure you are in the latest version of the firm ware if not upgrade to it. If that is not the problem then you may have a faulty battery. When I bought my Pulsar XQ38 thermal spotter it arrived with a faulty battery that would not hold charge for more than about 30 minutes. Dealer shipped a new battery straight away and it’s been perfect ever since.

If you're putting it on a 22-250 then I'm going to presume you'll be shooting foxes at ranges over 200 yards.
The Alpex will let you do that but I would buy the cheaper version (A50-T-S) that does not come with an IR illuminator and purchase an IR illuminator separately.
The LED based IR illuminator that comes with the more expensive version (A50-T) isn't really powerful enough for longer range shooting
If you do purchase the cheaper version then any one of these IR illuminators will be powerful enough to illuminate foxes at longer ranges:
1. Blacksun dark engine blade from the Night Vision Store
2, Sirius XTL from IRLightbuilds (on Facebook)
3. Solaris SRX from the Torch Factory
4. Night Sabre Wraith from Ludicrous lumens
You will also need some sort of adjustable mount to allow the IR illuminator to be attached to the scope and to adjust the beam with the scopes field of view

undecided yet whether to get Alpex or pay the premium and get a C50 but should I choose the Alpex it will go on a cz527 with Britannia rail so shouldn’t be too different than your Russan in height.
Should get away with low rings which I already have.

Image quality I find very good for day time and night. Shooting foxes up to and over 200 yards sat atop my 243. Pic rail and Warne medium mounts.

Definitely go for an after market IR to boost range.

Twilight the Alpex is awesome, it can appear full dark to the eye but the scope will still produce a full colour image.

Zeroing is simple, not quite a 1 shot zero but not a difficult process. Lots of YouTube videos on zeroing the Aplex. Mine has never shifted zero either. The app is also very easy to use for downloading videos etc.

For the money, I think its a very good scope.

Really rate the Alpex, I would go with an ir build Sirius torch, you can order the adjustable mount at the same time. Work’s brilliantly with the Alpex can see well over 400m

Very happy with mine. I think the battery issue was me not powering it down properly. Just installed the latest firmware via the Sight app’..no problems. However some things in the menu have changed, as well as PIP zoom and reticle centre. There is an updated user manual as well.

I am New to the Alpex, do they recommend draining the internal battery before recharging again?
I thought with the batteries now that that was a thing of the past .
