SD whisky drinkers

Couple of points, which have left me rather conflicted.

  1. Not wanting to share = very selfish
  2. £100 a 'nip' from a £1,000 70cl bottle, equates to 70ml 'nips' = very generous.

Should you ever overcome issue No.1 - then I would be delighted to make myself available for issue No. 2.

Even happy to bring the mixers...

Mixers eh

Special place in hell for you types

£1000 odd quid isn't to be sniffed at I'll agree with you there FB.

But is that bottle ever going to retire you or even buy you a car?

I doubt it.
Hmmm.
Retired 17 years ago and will never part with Lady FB my Jimny so maybe I should…….

Good points sir.
1. I’ll get over the selfish bit; and
2. Over here we rarely use measures and on the rare occasion they can be located and are reached down, polished and shown to the mildly incredulous assembled masses it is important to remember that not only do we use correct spelling but our “measures” are significantly larger than the big jessies use across the Irish Sea. As an aside there is a nasty rumour that this important point was what swung the sainted then London-domiciled Lady FB‘s mind when the possibility of her coming here was actually broached.
Your observations have however gave me pause for reflection and it is only after much thought that I have revised my view on possible sharing to:-
“there is no-one in the universe I would want to share it with”.
As a further aside I once was able to sniff but definitely not touch or taste a padlocked bottle of Whiskey (the manageress had the key on a waist-attached chain) which was half full but still valued at twice what the full bottle had been purchased for - at 11,000 Euros. The previous week an American golfer had ordered one, of course he had to pay for it before it was decanted then with great ceremony when this was set in front of him asked for and duly emptied a bottle of your suggested thinners. His body has never been found…

I got told a long time ago up in argyle by the stalker’s father that there’s only 2 things go in a glass of malt
1. Water and never more than 1/2 the malt.
2. More malt.

With water, wherever you go, it's different (hard/soft etc.). If you have to then just take smaller sips, surely. :-|

If your throat is raw it's because it can't be a very nice malt! That's what I always said, anyway. ;)

p.s. hope the ribs heal up quickly :thumb:

I could never get past the need to retch, when a whiff of a bottle is detected.
I was like that for years.

Decided as a 40 year old Scotsman who otherwise likes a refreshment, that I had to address this and powered through a bottle. No problems since 😄.

In retrospect not sure this was a great idea…

I bought this as a curiosity . It will remain unopened , I gave up alcohol 25 years ago .

It's an Isle of Lewis Whisky.
They changed the bottle shape for the core strength to a square shape a few years ago. Their cask strength now comes in that round bottle.

Very smooth and floral witrh a soapy finish (like Lindores), can only (and will) get better (IMO)

I bought it direct from the distillery , Ltd number . The first whisky produced on the Isle in 200 years , allegedly.
It came boxed with a sample dram and badge .
Your description makes me want to open it .😇
