Scientifically there is a large body of evidence that demonstrates that lead ingested into the human body from whatever source is harmful. Indeed the FDA in America has just given Orphan Drug Status for new cancer treatments that are based on removing lead and other heavy metals from the body. The challenge that the HSE are struggling with is that is little data from the UK and there is a view in Government that any knowledge from overseas is totally irrelevant to the UK.
