Shooting bag filler

So I went out to rezero my rifle and as I pulled my shooting back out the car it decided it wanted to leak everywhere. Sand does seem to like to leak out if ut because of how fine it is.

What do you guys fill your bags with? All recommendations welcome

In the meantime I guess I’ll start on the impossible task of cleaning up all the sand 🙃IMG_9136.webp

I use my rucksack and just stuff a fleece jumper inside.

For a sand bag put a plastic bag inside and then fill with sand. Or use course but dry sawdust, but challenge with sawdust, rice, beans etc is they soak up water.

Try the styrene type pellets used in bean bags, or the foam packing type shells used in large volumes by the likes of amazon etc.

If using sand, put a plastic bag in first, as others have mentioned above.

Don't use wheat, or any other edible grain, or you will end up with a mouse problem. Don't ask me how I know

Cat litter is supposed to work pretty well, but I've not tried it.

I use horticultural vermiculite. It’s a steady as a sand bag, but very light. It’s not an environmental issue if it leaks. It’s light enough that when we have nieces and nephews over for a plink with their air rifles, they can carry and move it on the bench.

Cat litter and rice.

cat litter is heavy

Rice is edible, so possible mice problems, but a lot lighter.

Oh dear! 😧

I have used rice and cat litter but prefer rice, less dusty and always some in the cupboard if you need to top up

I used cat litter.

It’s ok for number 1’s but number 2’s not so much

But in a bag I find it’s dusty after a while. Sand in a plastic bag is better, but you’ve maybe enough sand there for now 😁
