Thermal Monocular Decision?

I have had a previous thread on Thermal Monoculars,

I having read all post on my thread, I have narrowed it down to two that fall into my price range.

Pulsar XM30F vs Hicmicro Lynx 2.0 25mm

The Hicmicro is slightly a head as it uses 18650 batteries, which are the same as my Pard!

I would appreciate your thoughts, which may sway my decision.. .. .. ..

I don't think you can beat the pulsar xm30 for slim shape and size and tough magnesium body. These long tubular style imagers don't do it for me.

Recently bought my first thermal, s/h Pulsar Axion XM 38.
Love it, only criticism is that it has a high base mag but I knew that before I got it and can live with it no problem.

I am only an occasional user, so it may be worth waiting to see if I can get a really good deal on a XM30F as its being updated/superseded!

Borrowing an XM30F for one night convinced me to buy a Pulsar (though I went for the 35 because I got a really good price on it from Remmy700).
I really wouldn’t worry about the non-18650 battery match with your Pard - the Pulsar Battery Pack APS 3 lasts forever. I bought a spare at time of purchase and have never, like never, had to use it - often getting two nights out of one charge with some juice left.

Thank you, interesting read about the batteries, does do any harm to top these type of batteries up each time you go out, or is it best to run them flat each time?

It (and virtually everything else NV and thermal) uses lithium ion rechargeable batteries and these can be topped up as soften as you want or allowed to go flat as often as you want
i.e they do not suffer from any sort of "memory effect" that plagued other battery chemistries such as nickel cadmium

Likewise with my Pulsar. I take it stalking, turn it on and it stays on the whole time I'm out, usually 3-4 hrs and that usually only drops the battery by one bar.

As MJ says there is no issue when you charge them. If you use the snooze function it really helps save the battery when out and it comes on again in a second.

I’ve been using an older model, Pulsar XM30s, battery life is impressive and I always take spares to change out in seconds. I top my batteries up before they run empty for the next trip out and they do the business.

I got myself an XM30F. I'm considering outing it for a HIK. Just not enough scenery detail for my liking. Yes I can clearly see the nice hot animal, but without the reference of features it's then an issue locating it in the real world
