Have and had lots of .22 auto's over the years. Semi autos are great fun but they are just not as accurate as a bolt. I think my most accurate sporter I have is a CZ I purchased about 40 years ago, it's still going very strong despite the newer shorter synthetic stocked versions I have today.
My favorite semi that I still have today is a Gevarm (French) that fires from an open bolt, I believe it's from the early 60's, not particularly accurate but it never fails to operate and is a fun shoot.
With todays technology (range finders, ballistic reticles etc.) shooting a reasonable .22lr out to 100 yards should be no trouble. Enjoy your work.
