Here’s my summary gleaned from 9 pages of questions and answers.
There are some police forces trialling a new “ policy”.
This policy is without legal backing or precedent,
It is being implemented as a trial by a few police forces who will use the answers to some very ambivalent questions to determine your suitability to acquire or to retain your firearms in the future.
The policy may be universally adopted in the future or it may not.
Despite the fact that the practice is only being trialled and has no legal basis, refusal to participate by either yourself or your partner will result in your application or renewal being automatically rejected.
A couple of questions.
Do you believe that this new requirement going to provide a demonstrable increase public safety and can we please see the safety assessments and HAZID’s to back up the decision to introduce it?
If the new requirement is deemed to have a measurable effect on public safety, why is it not being introduced everywhere simultaneously.
How do you see the application of this “ policy “ affecting participation in shooting sports into the future?
Best of luck to you all in the future.
