I should of been a member before this but this is the final step. They are by far the most important people in protecting and preserving are sport or that's my opinion anyway.
I'm sure this will increase their membership by some margin.

There you go. £90 p.a. though not sure how good the cover is….

It’s an interesting option for insurance. The channel content rarely has little to interest me but would be interested to know how good the insurance itself is.

Is there a way to judge the value of relative insurance policies objectively?

Very difficult, especially for a new product in a highly specialised market, because there are no reliable customer satisfaction surveys to go by. However, when it comes to their legal fees insurance, specifically, the law firm on tap does seem to have a good reputation in firearms cases.

A few thoughts.

1) there seem to be a few Police units taking a rather heavy handed approach at times. There are always two sides to any story.

2) Having legal insurance that covers the costs of appeals and defence and thus challenging police behaviour is probably very useful. And it shouldn’t take many cases to significantly modify behaviour.

3) I do feel it’s a great pity that increasingly we live in a society where agencies take the law into their own hands and require the action of the courts to modify behaviour. Indeed it’s not that long ago when crown servants could not be prosecuted under the law. Indeed many crown servants cannot be prosecuted - notably prison officers.

We have politicians that do believe they are above the law. And Politicians are trying to force legislation through that makes Judges bend to their will. The Judiciary must be independent and be must to uphold the law of the land. I would suggest certain criminal proceedings as is happening in New York are very good for our society.

Problem is with this type of insurance it looks like they only ever take on a case if there is a high probability of winning and they make the decision not you.

In theory if you are innocent then there should be a high probability of winning. If you have been a bit of a twit and got caught out then you will be in your own. ( in theory ).

The BASC magazine rarely has anything to interest me but I've been a member for donkey's years for both the insurance and to support our sport. Now that BASC have dropped the legal cover it may be worth a look.

To support our sport 😂
You can knock BASC as much as you like, but where would we be now if we had no representation whatsoever. Now don't get me wrong, I'm hardly their biggest fan, but there is no denying they have confronted issues that would have left us profoundly more worse off than we are now.
When they took the decision to drop legal cover from their member's insurance, I would much rather have seen an increase in fees to cover it than end up paying £95 pa without the legal cover.

This is similar liability cover that you will already have in many home insurance policies and low limit legal expenses cover based on the 51% chance of success, actual costs around £15 per annum so well marked up

If you read the terms of CCC insurance they also will only take it on if a number of factors are in their favour, and that estimation of probability is solely theirs.
Personally I wouldn't like to have to test any of these providers.

Hmm. Not sure you are comparing like-for-like - those terribly, terribly “dangerous sports” such as shooting would I imagine attract a significant premium?
