Op Titanium

It's no secret that you are most likely to be murdered by someone you know (even more so if you are a woman) so it makes sense to ask supporting questions to ensure that the police who ultimately grant an FAC or SGC aren't giving someone easier means to inflict harm in a situation where harm is most likely to occur.
At the risk of repeating myself in response to you doing so, this statement in relation to firearms is wholly misrepresentative and it is quite disingenuous of you to try to provide a link.

Please provide supporting statistics reflecting the method of all such domestic murders, as whilst firearms will obviously feature, compared to knives, strangulation and blunt instrument trauma the percentage of firearms use will be minimal. On a risk based approach I'd suggest B&Q need to provide this questionnaire to the wife of any guy buying a hammer more than a FEO needs to!

Utter nonsense.

It has nothing to do with Police 'labelling' anything.

If you don't like the 'title' "Domestic Abuse", take it up with Parliament - they brought the "Domestic Abuse" legislation in.

Its inappropriate language as they have no evidence for the majority of applications that DA or DV is taking place. This process should be reserved for those applicants with previous form. A different title is needed. If DA/V is determined then of course thats a matter of fact as per the legislation

Anyone here can always ask me a technical or legal question to test me!!
@BobJones if you are a firearms law expert (and I/we would genuinely love one on the forum) it might be worth adding some further evidence of this. Sorry to be rude but we live in a world of mistrust and I am told this site regularly get anti shooting membership applications all the time.

If I was an FEO, my "red flag" would be popping up where partners in a relationship do not trust one another enough to share everything that they have.

Good job you're not then.

My wife would have no interest in sharing the contents of my gun cabinet and if she did would we be asked the same questions ?

There is no need for partners in a stable relationship to have separate bank accounts. To me, if partners feel that they need separate bank accounts, that indicate that perhaps the relationship isn't so stable after all
have you ever had a woman with a shoe addiction?🤣
I have several bank accounts for my business and my personal stuff but thankfully my woman doesn’t have access to any of these. Her priorities are different to mine…she has 50 pairs of fancy high heel shoes but never seems to have enough money to put petrol in her car 🤣🤣 or pay her phone bill.
We have both recognised this and I am the financial advisor in my household.
The question is like “does your husband ever cook dinner?” No I don’t because I’m **** at cooking. I’m good at managing money. Wife is good at cooking. Good old traditional Victorian British relationship. 👍 works for us but has feck all to do with anyone’s eligibility to hold firearms.

Folks be careful of your comments as police forces monitor this site.
Basc will not argue if they want to remove your tickets.

Connor as helped so many of us and is not a dig at him in anyway or form

It’s ok, I’m sure police officers are allowed a sense of humour as much as the next person.
I think it would be great if the police actually had a presence on SD to answer some of the questions we all have for them….

I just asked my Mrs all the questions in the questionnaire to see what she thought and she asked “why are they asking about weapons? Your guns aren’t weapons, they are tools”

They will monitor all your text emails and other services they checked my driving license and ask why i had so many medicals.
Was a coach driver and this was the law but they are dammed if they don't ask and moaned at if they do .
Who would be a FAO

Of course firearms are going to be very low on the list of method used in DV murders, but then firearms are much rarer and lower in number than almost any other method available.

The police aren't giving people a certificate to own knives, pieces of rope, heavy blunt objects etc where if one of those was used to murder someone the first question asked would be "why did you give it to them?“

If there had never been a case where an FAC holder had killed someone then you could say there is absolutely no link. Unfortunately it has happened and usually where there were or could have been signs to pick up earlier, both by the police and others.

Public support for the police is probably at the lowest it has ever been, the general public also have no interest or knowledge of legally held firearms so the police are doing the bare minimum to cover their ass in the unlikely event something goes wrong.
