Home Office handling of NFLM records

I find this strange and suspect you or the feo has had a misunderstanding. Nflms is the licensing platform for Wales and England. If you have a certificate number the search functions will locate you and you're history. It will also show the date and times where you have had an interaction with fld. That's if the person has recorded it. In regards to HO having access each constabulary has a nflms manager auditor. These champions have greater access to the system.

i think i would speak to the police and crime commisioner, then one of the you tube based shooting press and all shooting publication.

I think they maybe fobbing you off. Deleted files don't go away and everything has an audit trail. Everything can be recovered.

Submitted a variation for .233 in November last year and have since been notified by FEO that due to an administrative error in their department my file has been deleted and thus no record exists of my licences on NFLM database. I've been told by the police it is for the Home Office to retrieve my file and that they can't process variation until Home Office actions the query. Would be interested to know whether anyone has been put in a similar predicament and how they resolved the issue?

Is it just the file on your variation that's been deleted, or the complete history of you ever having had a FAC/SGC?

I suspect so too. It seems unlikely that there wouldn't be a back up file given how sensitive the data is.

I find it very hard to believe that they've managed to delete your NFLMS record completely. More likely they've somehow locked it or managed to deny themselves access. Bear in mind these are records that are archived even after your death... It's not a case of accidentally hitting the wrong key...

If you're not satisfied with the way it's being dealt with, it's definitely covered by GDPR, and thus you're able to complain to the information commissioner, as losing or deleting your data counts as mishandling it.

You could also complain (or at least threaten to...) to the force's Professional Standards department. They've fallen short of several key standards for Police Staff.

Firstly, though, I'd try a complaint to the Chief Constable, copy in the firearms licensing manager, and ask them to explain EXACTLY what has happened.

You would think that unauthorised use of a Police database (i.e. deleting your file) was a crime and I understand that the Police do have powers to investigate crime, including raiding the Home Office if necessary. Try reporting it as a crime?

I managed to get an email with attached letter from police after contacting the gamekeepers organisation. So I'm ok with regards to proving authority to use firearms. But haven't had confirmation as to how the matter is to be resolved.

Some people like to bash BASC but this is the sort of situation they would resolve very quickly, either through the Licencing Manager, Deputy Chief Constable, or Home Office.

Might be worth dropping an email to Martin Parker at BASC even if you are not a member as the situation has potential impact on BASC members.
