Interesting reading on the 7mm08 seeing as I soon to be 'another 7mm-08 user'. What load are you using for your .5 moa, and what rifle? If you don't ming sharing of course
)
6.5 x 284 really good BC on bullets and fast will reach out there and buck wind better
Sean, I don't know where in North Wales you are but might pay you to pop into Glyn's hairdressers in Old Colwyn as he is a ballistics nut and shoots out to 1500 mtrs with custom loads. I have a feeling that his current load is similar to your .233 and goes out at over 4,000 fps but he'd give you very good advice. He has been featured on You Tube popping balloons at those sort of ranges.[/QUOTEi bet he has to have new barrels every 700 rounds
a mate of mine had a trg in 338 lapua,was down on his ticket for deer and foxesIf you'd be allowed .338 lap mag on the place it would be wrong not to get one. It would also be a good boar gun...![]()
you dont need a magnum case to push the big 7mm and the 284 does that
the 284 shehane is the most accurate 1000yd cartridge it gives you much better vertical at long range over the magnums
Sorry taylor thats where you are wrong mate, the 284 Shehane might be one of the most accurate 1000yd cartridges but the crown goes to the 6mmBR and its variants.
What i was meaning to say is that the high BC 139 and 142grn 6.5 bullets out of the 284 case are ballistically superior to the 168 and 180 grn heavy bullets fired from the 284 case simply because of higher initial velocity.

Just had a new barrel 2,300 rounds down last .22b/r at 3338fps using a 75 amax ,
next barrel should do the same
as did the barrel before that ,![]()
Try a 300 Winchester Magnum. Common brass and ample power.~Muir
