For Sale: New Work-Sharp Benchtop Precision Knife Sharpeners

Hi All

The re-stock from Germany finally arrived and all back-orders have been dispatched.

We have a small quantity available & this will probably be the last stock we get in this year.

Any enquiries just drop me a pm.

Thanks

Can you import replacement stones? Looks like they're all the norm in the US but the only options we have over here is the £80 'upgrade' set.

Just thinking ahead
I will check with our German wholesaler if they can get replacement stones - however I think it's fair to say being diamond grit it will be a long time before they would need replacing :thumb:

Had one of these sat in a cupboard for months, unused. Finally decided to give it a go the other day. Wow! Silly sharp knives in minutes, and so easy.

If you're on the fence, get one.View attachment 381931
Yep i had been using lansky for years, switched to the worksharp, made sharpening and more importantly just a wash and brush up and you can get the leather strop on it as well, very easy only takes seconds to bring a blade back to very sharp again, decent piece of kit 👍

Just to give Rob a big thumbs up as our WorkSharp arrived Monday, great piece of kit and a good deal via the forum. Previously I had been using the Lansky system and struggling to get an edge on the EKA swingblade, but the WorkSharp quickly sorted it out and its razor sharp now...

What angle did you set for EKA ? I was informed there is a secondary bevel at roughly 10 degrees 🤷‍♂️ and that is why they’re hard to sharpen .

20 deg, was going for around 17 but decided in the end 20, as I thought I could always secondary bevel that. Having used the Lansky previously on the EKA with limited success, I started with coarse cut diamond on each blade side to establish the true angle, followed by the 600 diamond, followed by the stone. I have a headset magnifying glass, so made sure that the cutting bevel was equal in size on both sides of the blade. The instructions say count the strokes to equal the size of the bevel edge, which is ok, but you also need to keep an eye on the bevel width. Be careful with the diamond coarse cut it works very well indeed and quickly takes off metal. The instructions say the sharpening action is up and down slowly moving along the blade, thats ok for inital cuts, but I found it produces a better edge using the 600 diamond if you then move the diamond slowly from back to tip along the bevel edge gently going up and down once before going to the stone. Lastly use minimum force, just a light action.
The above is just my way of working.. it worked for me on the swingblade..

The Worksharp works between 30 and 15 deg. I had tried to sharpen with the lansky system making a secondary bevel, but it never stayed sharp enough. So I thought I had nothing to lose, just go with a 20 deg bevel as per most hunting knives and it worked, huge improvement, its as sharp now as the day it was new.

My question too given this sharpens to 30 degrees and reading EKA’s G4 website, its blade angle is 40 degrees:-|
You have to careful about some manufacturers as they mean the full angle of the blade edge which is twice what others mean when talking about the bevel (I'm sure I could have worded that better). So you are setting the tool to a 20 degree edge. 15, 17 and 20 degree angles will suit all your needs from Kitchen to field.
