I've paid a sporting agent to go rabbit shooting with my .22lr and had a brilliant couple of days! :D
I'm actually thinking of doing it again for a couple of days (2 days rabbit shooting with 2 nights b&b - isn't cheap but its brilliant!!)

I think this is a great idea and if it was closer to home ad snap up the much needed opportunity to even get some shooting practice on live quarry because paper dosnt compare to real life situations and to put me in good stead for my DSC 1 next month.

John, will you include witnessing in this?:D

I cant see a problem, I practice stalking and shooting off sticks at wabbits, Im not suprised you have people wanting to join you, BTW I can vouch for Breeze pointing squirrels, until I was told the differnt point for deer / squizzers I kept thinking she was on a deer.

John this is where the idea stemmed from, clients from abroad have non of the vermin type shooting we hve here and have said they woud pay to do it if it could be made into a safari(stalk). Well over the last few weeks breeze has obtained a great knack at hearing/seeing squirrels in the tree tops from great distancces and I thought i would like to have a go myself, then it matured into a sporting oppertunity for anyone who wanted to have a go.

Good idea we all have to earn a crust....be a good oppertunity to teach a novice rifleperson that its not a good idea to fire a rifle up into the trees;)

No one said it would be elevated tree shooting?
Stalking is a ground sport, don't know about you but i stalk with my feet on the floor, and a squirrel attached to the trunk of a large beech tree is as safe a shot as I know rimfires also bounce on the ground you know so where are people supposed to fire them?
I think if I can be trusted to guide novice stalkers with a full bore then this should be within my parameters don't you?
p.s. who said it was a novice shot who will book anyway, I didn't?

NOW!!! what I have said before is not being taken into account.

ANYONE who pays and posts on this site and offers a service for which you have to pay for should not have to run the gauntlet of ABUSE about what they are charging.

ITS VERY SIMPLE IF YOU DONT WANT TO DO IT THEN DONT!!! AND FURTHER MORE KEEP YOUR MONEY. Some people make a living out of the countryside, me included so if you dont like the price keep it to yourself we do not need to hear it on here.

Surely if people use an OPEN forum to advertise they should be thick skinned enough to accept all replies,, or in fact be able to justify what they are offering to critics,, The money charged for some sport these days can be outrageous as we have seen in offers of syndicate threads recently,, so surely if the price is justified and people take the offer up, then comments (not abuse) should be welcomed

All fair comments i guess,i will agree rimfires do bounce, but i recon its a bit easier to miss a tree than it is to miss the ground, you may disagree.....

I certainly not getting into a debate about it, good luck with your venture.....

Why should I have to feel obliged to answer you.
The day i have offered is a change for ME, I give a days stalking deer up and will make less.
It is not a holiday (i'm self employed) though so I have to make a charge for my wages.
I will pay tax insurance and will have vehicle costs to come out of just the outing fee.
If no one takes me up then I will guide on deer and make far more money for the day.
Then when i get a last minute cancellation i will go shoot them myself probably with a shotgun and jut blow out the drays and shoot the hares in feb on the drives.
just thought it would make someone a day out.
As it happens it has (with an airgun) I will carry the hmr incase a hare or fox is seen.
So there you have it a shooter with 30 years expeience is bringing his wepon of choice (airgun) to stalk any legal quarry over my dog for the full day, he will get what he has paid for.
Not for everyone. But why do you have to comment at all?
We as paying trade members shouldn't have to deal with your veiws, if you don't want it keep your money. I will make more by stalking deer. This is my last word on defending this.

Why should you feel obliged to answer me !!?? answer me what,, I never questioned you ,, in fact I said it would suit some and wished you good luck,,,, read my post please, you must be confused about it.

We as paying trade members should not have to deal with your views ! what ? the views of potential customers?? fair enough,,

Anyway.. all I intimated was that I found it incredible that vermin shooting was 90 quid a day,, but seemingly this site does not cater for posts like that,, so be it,,

dont like it dont buy it simple !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In future any post that starts to descend into questioning costs that are applied to any post for stalking etc will be removed.

As has been mentioned before if you dont like the cost dont go and dont pay.

I think John is doing a great job by offering people sport and his knowlwedge and experience of country sports. Some people do not have the time or know how to get the ground for themselves and the old saying goes use it or loose it, so I hope people keep John in work for a long time.
I have only been on a few Deer stalks with John but learnt a lot and I have been involved in field sports since a boy. John as probably forgot more than most know, so please keep your post civil.
On my days of work I do my sport as my hobby, it seems John spends time trying to defend his name and work. Give him and other like him some respect, I think they work dam hard in the job they do. They are special people to do it full time.
I said a while ago I would not post again because people are too quick to critise, however rights right and wrongs no mans right.
Rant over well done John and thanks for the DVD`S they are great.

John (Yorkshire roe stalking), I feel for you. Likewise "Hunting experiences". Perhaps the guys who ripped into John might like to look at the advert by Hunting experiences a day or two ago. John put up front the charge for his time and sport, while the other gent chose to let people ask him about costs. It seems trade advertisers are between a rock and a hard place. Publish no price, and people feel you are hiding something. Publish a price and get numerous posts slating you for charging too much for too little! Do you same people walk into every shop you pass to rip the owners apart for charging more than you see fit for their goods? Or perhaps you pop in to rant because the price is not clearly shown in the window?
Gentlemen please think before tapping away on your keyboard, this does the site no favours at all.
I shall await incoming flack.

Best regards,

Mark

Sure there was a post not so long ago about how, relatively, poorly paid keepering was ? Now, someone has the gumtion to put an interesting offer out there, not for debate, and he gets grief by potential customers ? Mmm I am pretty sure John will still be in business without your trade.
The problem is what, he might make some money ? Good for him for having the idea and doing something about it. It's profit that keeps us all in jobs, lets us put bread on the table and bullets in our rifles ! Members negative posts have achieved nothing, John wasn't looking for anyones approval, so whether you like it or not it is still going to happen and I for one am delighted John has filled it with a customer who also obviously thought it was a great offer and a fair price.

Good stuff

I hope the venture works,,,as I stated in my first post,, but surely everybody is entitled to an opinion,, I didn`t see too many complaints when a non trade member was critised relentlessly for advertising a syndicate place at over 10 quid an acre,
