Buffalo Shirt 6

I have an arktis mammoth which is a similar design, possibly a little warm while heading up hill, for really bad weather and quad bikes,or sitting in a high seat they are unbeatable

Ditto what Green mist said, I've used a country covers version effectively the same thing - as long as it's not lashing it down, it's a great option. The side zips vent well for heat regulation, windproof, if you are moving it drys quickly. Stays warm when wet and pretty quiet

I own a few and had one issued with Mountain Rescue. Tough, warm snd comfortable. Stays warm when wet and can be vented when too warm. Hood is great and and kangaroo pocket is probably my favourite feature. On balance I probably like my Montane Extreme Smocks better but there’s nothing in them. The material is not silent but not exactly loud either.
Made in Sheffield too!

anything from buffalo is a fantastic bit of kit, used the special 6 shirt in anger across the globe and its by far the best shirt of its type.

Arktis mammoth is possibly better value for money but they are out of stock in plain green and apparently it will be a couple of months before they have them again.
I looked at the FORTIS one, and my personal opinion is that its too thick, too warm, too heavy, too expensive and waiting time is long.

They are designed to be worn either next to the skin or against a base layer for active use. For this they are very good. They are however noisy, slim fitting and fragile in that when they get older the pile thins out.

They’re not the warmest garment when static and also lack proper pockets. Very good for outdoor wear such as hardcore hiking, but for a stalker…..there are better options out there.

I had one for about 15 years and always preferred my softie jacket (which I still have) to be honest.

£200 is far too steep in my opinion.

Any feedback on what people think of the Buffalo shirt 6 for hill stalking would be appreciated.

The Buffalo Special 6 is a fantastic warm shirt but it really isn't suitable for hill stalking unless you can pack it in your rucksack as it would simply be too warm to walk in. In cold weather and if you are moving slowly in forestry it might work and I'd wear mine if i'm standing about while fishing but you aren't going to be climbing hills in one unless the conditions are really exceptionally cold and windy.
