Pretty sure when I bought my first shotgun cartridges were £2.50/25 or if you bought 1000 it was about £85… during the 90s I did a lot of clay shooting & used boxes of ‘bin ends’ - a cardboard 250 round ‘outer’ box full of lose cartridges of mixed loads. Sold nominally at 5 boxes per 1000 for about £65 if I remember - I had friends who had a gun shop that got them for me so not sure if they were a widely available thing or not. I packed up clay shooting in 98 & didn’t need to buy game cartridges for 15 years or so as there were always plenty of left overs from loading to cover the odd day as a guest or beaters shoots. Imagine my surprise when I then started clay shooting again & found that £4.50 a box was considered normal. I’m out of game cartridges at the moment so looking to buy 250 & looking at the prices I think we’ll be on bread & water for a few weeks to balance the books!
Should add though, the cartridges are by far the cheapest part of the whole day.
This is what happens when money is printed out willy nilly ! It becomes worth less ,
What make were they?Try pricing a box of slugs! £47 per 25!
Federal…What make were they?
Which is why I don't bother with pensions !Your excatly right and it affects every part of life. You can go on to the bank of England website and compare how much say £1 was worth in xyz and compared to now with inflation taken into account.
I put in to the calculater what I paid for my first shotgun 8 years ago and if I had to pay for it today it was an extra £300 just with inflation!!
It's the clay pigion guys I don't know how they do it!
Try pricing a box of slugs! £47 per 25!
Funnily enough that came up in conversation the other day, not that I'm a smoker, but person in question was paying £18 per pack per dayCheap when you compare them to the price of 20 cigarettes !! or the price of "per bird"
Actually no, I think I know who you mean but it was a trustworthy dealer and he was paying the same for them!I can guess which miserable bugger was trying to rob you![]()
We need to import Baikal records again, just ware sunglasses !![]()

I feel sorry for that person….Funnily enough that came up in conversation the other day, not that I'm a smoker, but person in question was paying £18 per pack per day
