Africa - recommendations

Although I'm new to shooting I'm attending a wedding in South Africa next year and have booked more time off and earlier flights so I can take advantage of the opportunity!
I'm flying to Johannesburg for a week to shoot!

What experiences have people had? Any recommendations for companies? game?
- I am budget conscious as this is already costing a ton of money!
Any help would be appreciated!

Similar scenario last December, but the wedding was in Cape Town. So I hopped on a short interval flight to Port Elizabeth and did three days with Royal Karoo Safaris. Hunted kudu, impala and spingbok. Incredible experience.

Made the mistake of getting a few bits taxidermied… Still work in progress and it’s not going to be cheap 😬🤦🏻‍♂️

It's a wasted opportunity if not 😁 Noted! surely Kudu isn't a cull animal? That's incredible, I'd love to taxidermy too. If you're going all that way to hunt, it may as well come back home!

If you need somewhere closer to Jozy then try Johan at Meet The Team | ExecutiveHuntAfrica
He’s only just over an hour from the city but you could be in the middle of nowhere.
He’s developing some cull packages so ask for them.
I was there in September in between a work trip and had a good time

I visit regularly and hunt with Evert Birkenstock in Limpopo Province. You can contact him on here.
@Evert
I can also recommend Evert. I was in South Africa for Easter to take my boys to meet my grandmother before she died and so had my initial experience of shooting African game. It was a great trip.

Shot plenty of cull Kudu………

I ask to hunt one horned animals rather than trophies, harder to find than a trophy on most reserves……

Bringing stuff back will, most likely, cost more than the hunt especially when you include the transport even for just the skull and horns.

Depending on your budget and level of hospitality you are looking for, try John X Safaris. John X Safaris | South African Hunting Safari

If you are after a no frills hunt which concentrates on the hunting, drop me a message and I will pass on the details of a friend of mine who I have hunted with over the last 20 years.

check out "Discount African Hunting" I havnt been with them but I have had many conversations with them they seem very professional.
