In Sunday afternoon mode - so brain not 100%, but read through thread and can only see the original news article. Of the posts, cant find any mention that anyone has fuller facts of the circumstances - unreserved apologies if I have missed anything on that.
Assuming the above is the position, I am rather disappointed with some of the criticism and 'mirth' that has been posted thus far. It paints this Forum ( in my personal view ) and its membership in a relatively poor light.
Aside from question of taste and consideration, anyone that shoots should be only too aware of the nature of the Press - we've collectively suffered more than enough from them! From one article - in The Sun for heaven's sake - I don't see enough fact to base any public comment on the person concerned or the circumstance of his demise - putting aside the rights or wrongs of doing so.
If I were a friend or relative of this guy, I would be left of a very Press stereotypical impression of the members here.
I'm not perfect by any means and am not judging others - because I dont know them, only judging what people have CHOSEN to write.
And I'm not going near the Bushcraft Celebrity debate with a barge pole!
I've had lots of adventures - mostly agree with the definition of Adventure as being the event where you messed up, possibly multiple times; but have the luxury of looking back on your actions. From what was reported and implied by others - I've done worse and by luck or skill ( tending toward the former ) got away with it. There's a number of times when I could have bought it - and in far more ridiculous/ silly/ stupid circumstance than those reported in this case. For the sake of my loved ones and creditors. I would only have hoped not to have them see such public derogatory commentary.
