I need to stock up on gloves and the last lot I bought were awful thin things. Any suggestions or links?

If you just want coverage for your hands, these are the dogs danglers.

Should use blue gloves, as you're dealing with a food product
And for your own consumption ? As long as the gloves are intact and in 1 piece it makes no odds. Advisory yes but not compulsory, I've never seen EHI out checking deer stalking activities.

For your own consumption it makes no odds, as you quite rightly say.
But for the production of carcasses destined for onward sale, your EHO will expect to see it noted in your HACCP that blue gloves will be used.

Many EHOs prefer that no gloves are used because it can encourage poor hygiene/handwashing practices.

Personally, in the field I use the best nitrile gloves I can find. Can't recall the name, but the green ones from Mole Valley Farmers are pretty good.

Never even occurred to me that the blue was important.

Imagine that the chances of being pulled up are slim but worth bearing in mind. Cheers

I'm a bit confused by the concept of "using the best I can find". They're disposable and get worn for 5 mins then chucked. They don't need to be robust enough to stand up to repeated use 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I've used a lot of Bodyguards ones but also the Flexcell ones off JustGloves which are half the price and not noticed much difference. I'm certainly not tearing twice as many as I did Bodyguard ones. FleXcel Powder Free Blue Nitrile Gloves

How does that work in the field then? Do you take a sink, hot water and soap with you? I've not met many EHOs but none of them ever suggested my hands (that I may have used to crawl through a muddy field) would be cleaner than a new pair of gloves I've just taken out of my pocket.

I actually do have hot water available in my truck, so yes, I do.

That said, don't take me too literally. It was a wider point about gloves not necessarily being required or beneficial at all points of carcass handling. I agree that for most instances, gloves are an excellent idea and I use them myself, as I did say.
