At the interview, he told them his reason to become a soldier was to "Go to Ireland and shoot some Paddies".Occasionally you hear of people doing inexplicably stupid things during their visit. A guy I knew years ago (who was a bit of a tit) was fond of a rant about immigrants and wasn’t very good at reading the room.
The line ‘of course I exp.ect I’ll need my rifle for the b***dy immigrants before 5 years is out’ didn’t land well with the FEO…

That is painful just reading of it. On the same league as if one is kicked somewhere sensitive.My brother in law is working for the NFU, he has a client in Kent, FEO knocked on his clients door, FAC holders wife answered, FEO intros himself and asks wife where the keys, she shows him
The visits are calm don’t worry about it
Mine wouldn’t take a cold or hot drink no biscuits anything.. not even a bottle of water for his drive home (was only a 7 minute drive to be fair)
Asked me about something silly when I was 18 years old was hard for me to even remember but was fine just wanted my side of it
He interviewed my wife separately which was fine.. had a little pull on the safe.. took a couple of photos (front and rear of house)
Showed me what a SGC and FAC looks like,
Gave me a page from BASC
Told me from now on he is my point of contact and to not hesitate to call him regarding shotguns and firearms
And that was it.. literally 14 days later they arrived

only applied for shotgun cert mate but wishing now i'd gone for firearms too as i've got some land to shoot over now (if successful)
