options for suhl bases

So its about time i look into a scope for my drilling this year. given the ways i tend to use it a 1-10x24 seems apropriate, its all daytime use on grouse essentially. Problem is that i never ended up finding any matching claws for it.

Without paying so mutch for The whole package that i may as well buy another drilling with a scope already on it what are the options nowadays? Hard to imagine nobody in all these decades has figured out a novice friendly way to do this without paying nearly 1k to have a gunsmith install a single scope, i dont even need to worry about height and such with this type of scope since its a uniform 30mm all the way from the eyepiece to the front so simply 2 rings at the same height should suffice. or maybe some kind of removable weaver/picatinny. I dont want to permanently damage a vintage piece.

Iam putting it into gunsmithing here because i do assume some level of custom fitting is required. iam not afraid of grabbing a file and honing stone if it comes to that.

Have you looked in the Recknagel catalogue to see if there is suitable blanks that can be filed to fit?

P.S. They look very similar (almost identical) to the Ziegler mounts that I have fitted to my Chapuis express.

I have had ring blanks from recknagle and then cut the claws with a file to fit existing bases. You start with the tips of the front claws and slowly ease them down. I used a bar instead of the scope, but no reason why you should nit use the scope. Once you have got it down you then add in the rear base and keep going down. Once almost down you cut the slot for the rear lock up. I used a colimeter to make sure I kept things on line. I think I posted about this a few years ago.

Edit - I remember this article Gunsmithing & Maintenance
