Rangefinder Binoculars

Im looking at getting a set of Rangefinder binoculars 10x42. I would appreciate any feedback of pros and cons of real life experiences with these, your views will be very much appreciated.
Thanks

I have Leica geovid 10x42 and like everything about them, my advice is to try various makes to make sure they suit your eyes, the reason I say this is, two friends have Swarovski rangefinder binos and prefer my leicas, when I look through the swaros I can't tell any difference

Purely as rangefinders or to stalk with? My original Bushells will range out to a mile but I wouldn’t use them for stalking - the clarity is not there. I’m sure there are new and more expensive ones that will be great

Ive just acquired a pair of bushnell fusion RF binos for £400 and they're really good for the money. I'll be using them for stalking and nrl matches and so far they've been absolutely fine. If I ever get the opportunity I'd happily try the newer bushnell fusion X ones. Money no object id be buying Vectronix vector Xs

I use Bushnell 8x42 now, nothing special or expensive but do the job, I wish had bought the 10x42 though. I've been looking at the Fusions myself, did you get them new or s/h. really like the look of the Vortex Fury, if I could find a reasonably priced new or s/h pair I think id be happy with them.

What’s your budget?

You have many options but depending on what functions you want to have, will significantly determine the price tag.

Been using some of these for the past few years and can’t fault them, very good in low light conditions, pinger is spot on, glass clarity is crystal clear and the battery last ages.

For balance, one possible downside, though not for me personally, but mentioned by others, is that they can feel a bit heavy. I’ve not had any problems with the weight myself.

If your want applied ballistics as a function, I think the best bang for your buck would be a set of sig’s:

I came from the usual bushnell legend 8x42 binos to the fusions. Glass quality I'd say is about the same, I got them technically second hand but they were like new still in the box with the stickers on , i picked them up on Ebay. Vortex fury's are definitely top tier and I wouldn't say no to an AB equipped pair but they're nearly £2k new, the bushnells are about £600 new. Vortex warranty is the best where as the fusions isnt great. Bushnell iron clad warranty only covers manufacturers defects and the electronics only get covered for either 3 or 5 years I cant quite remember. You'd have to look it up. Either way they'll last as long as they last and for 400 quid im not going to complain

Going slightly against the grain here, but after owning and testing lots of different makes (Swaro EL, Zeiss Victory and Leica Geovid RFs) I came to the conclusion that I preferred a semi decent set of standard binos coupled with a small thermal with RF.

Dont get me wrong, RF binos are great, but due to the electronics they give up optical clarity, low light performance and weigh considerably more.

I found a notable difference between the above three and a standard 8x42 SLCs, so get your mates round with as many different makes as possible and see which one suits you best.

I bought a second hand pair of Swarovski 10x42 gen 1 RFs. I wouldn’t swap them for the world although they’re heavy. I thought about swapping them for something smaller but I’ve not seen anything to compete visually.

I have 10x42 Vortex Fury and they are very good. Not going to be as clear as Swarovski's, but almost as good as my Steiner Rangers.
I would recommend them, especially if you can get a good 2nd pair or new on special.

Had the Leica 8x42 HD-B for a lot of years now.Can'tfault them,I don't use the ballistic function as it's 1/4 Moa & my X5i & my now sold Kahles 418TT is/was 1/8 Moa.
Great low light performance & straight forward to use.

If you’re a shooting deer at sensible ranges, it’s easy to learn what is 100, 150, 200.. any half decent golfer can with the naked eye tell you, that’s 180 yds to the pin.

IMHO, what you give up in clarity, cost, failure risk, weight, not worth it.

You also lose your skills in telling distance, because instead of trying to visually determine, you stare at the screen readout basically.

If you must then a pair of SH Geovids.
You would be better off with a thermal with LRF.
If you just need to range then a Leica monocular is what you need. Small compact and v good optics.
