"one for one" vs. "like for like" re: FAC variation for changing over moderators

You could always have written it on yourself and not bothered the RFD.

It made a legal trail for the moderator.
It was officially added to my fac

On Wednesday I disposed of a moderator to an RFD.
The same day I put a variation in for 2 rifles, along with the paperwork re. getting rid of the moderator.
Thursday I received an email asking for 49£ for the variation along with proof I’d paid.
I complied with that request but said in a Ps. that I thought my app. would be a 1for1 as I’d disposed of a moderator.
Still awaiting a reply to that.

if you increase the number of firearms held then it is not a free 1 for 1.

Yes, but if I put a variation in without asking for 1f1 it wouldn’t matter how many firearms I asked to be added, it would still only cost one payment of 49£.

indeed, however you do still need to justify your good reason for each additional firearm otherwise they will decline them.

Don’t give them any ideas, as come next fee increase it will be £49+ for each additional firearm via a variation

There was a time when, after putting in for a variation someone would phone and ask if I wanted any additional cals putting on to save expense later!
Must say, I’ve always been a keen varier.

I have done it as my FEO has suggested. I have disposed of my moderator to a RFD who has confirmed this to the FEO. Then I have applied online for a one for one variation. I am not in the hands of Firearms Department to sort it. I can probably always shoot over two of my permissions without moderator, but of course I need to re-zero. Fingers crossed it will be processed soon, but nothing is promised. This application costs nothing.

I have handed over my FAC for processing after being asked to do so, so hopefully it will come back in the post shortly. It has been a week so far.
