Condemned

It's been going on a long time then, unless the landowner has a large stock of old sixpences!
Maybe he got a job lot of such coin on clearance when the well known "Mr Dickens's Olde Tyme Victorian Christmas Pudding Shoppe" closed down?

Another sad casualty of Britain's increasing multi-cultural, non-Christian and secular demographic as Christ's birth becomes less and less celebrated?

So this has got me thinking . When I see the likes of say Chris Rogers stalking into deer say approx 1/2mile sometimes he’ll be closer he may be further away , he then shoots the animal , doesn’t gralloch it but heads back to his pickup to enable him to retrieve it back to the larder . By the time he has done this and this is with a single deer quite a time has lapsed . In my experience the quicker any animal is cleaned out the chances are you have a better carcass . We all know a deer will gas up in 5 mins and by 1/2hr -1hr it’s nearly popping and if there’s a weak spot the fluids are coming out and if it’s a body shot the blood is lying in there all this time so why this method , surely this isn’t good for carcass qaulity . Thanks

It appears to me that the multicultural and non-Christian demographic are far more enthusiastic and devout when it comes to celebrating religious festivals than the so-called "Christian" sector of our population.

And if you've ever been on a large "group cull" or similar, you'll know it can often be mid afternoon by the time deer that were shot first thing in the morning are all located, gralloched and extracted, and maybe early evening by the time they're back at the larder.

In a wood I shot with a friend taking the thermal brought the success rate up a lot, so we might shoot 3/4 muntjac, I would hang and bleed them take them to 1 of the 3 tracks, drive down the 400 yds then both of us would go grab them.
Alway found the meat to be good from them.

But you didn’t gralloch them Tim , just bled them .

is it just a coincidence that most catholic celebrations that invaded our once pagan land happen to fall on pagan festivals?
another sad casualty of multi cultural britain

I like that. So in fact we should be paid a premium for chest shot deer and have head shot condemned
 Well, if it means that the OP actually gets paid for his deer , as opposed to having to pay £40 or whatever it was , for their supposed disposal, then I’d suggest that only shooting deer in the chest might be a more financially beneficial solution for him.
Kindest regards, Olaf

It’s profession cullers I feel terrible for.

There’s not many now that don’t double hat as fencing or forestry contractors.

At best it’s a hobby that semi pays for itself or covers diesel.

Pick ups
Winches
Rifles
Quads
Insurances
Courses
Ammunition
Diesel
Trailers

Chills

Easily spend 100k to be given a pittance per kilo.

More and more I hear them say they would rather see them walking about than get paid pence.

Couple that with people having syndicates that live 6-10 hours away and want to “see” deer so don’t shoot many.

Whole thing is a mess.

Yes I’ve saw the change in the wind recently

Contractors being allowed access to the one deer a year brigades lease
Trouble is, if the lease holders find out, they can push for legal compensation unless they’ve failed to meet agreed targets.

Folk who have travelled a distance and only visit ground a handful of times a year = must shoot something and dump it into a GD not caring about quality = bad for the folk who do care and have the time to present quality carcasses.
Seen this far to often am afraid
Fully agree, but, facts are facts, and prime ground generally becomes unaffordable to those who really should be doing the job. As long as it’s legal to charge money for stalking leases, this will never change
