No.

It’s not AI.

I spend an inordinate amount of time investigating AI generated images. This doesn’t seem to have any of the traits you usually see.

One thing to bear in mind: the less training data the models have to go on, the weirder it looks. If you were to try to tell an AI to generate an image of a roe deer carcass in a crate in front of a market butcher’s stall, I can guarantee it wouldn’t look like that.

Among other things, AI is oddly bad at generating roe deer - it reverts to red or white tail as a default.

The clincher here, though, is the price label on the counter behind. It is far too consistent with the rest of the labelling. AI currently can’t do that - if you asked it to include a price sticker, it would default to something that looked like a Costco label.

This looks real, and given the pining for the good old days theme that pervades this forum, I’m amazed anyone objects.
I don’t think folks are objecting mate, just can’t see signs of a gralloch, shot, car impact, dog marks and it’s got to be pretty fresh.
If it’s real good on em 👍

Head on, feet on, oesophagus almost certainly still in place. If it is real (and personally I don't think it is) it shows a lamentable lack of skill and care from whoever supplied the carcass in the first place 🤔

Some may make use of a few of the bits we are accustomed to discarding? A fortnight after 9/11 I was invited to dinner with some Arabian hosts, eating a whole cooked lamb in Dubai ( and with my right hand, which for a left handed person doesn’t come naturally!). No sign of mint sauce either!

Not if it went straight from the field. The less cuts in the field the better. I certainly wouldn't take head and legs off in the field. Or open down the neck. It just provides more routes for dirt to get in during extraction and transport.
The lack of care is on the part of the butcher, who should have completed those processes with the carcass hanging up in more hygienic surroundings, before putting it on display.

If you’re getting £3+ per kg cash in hand, and if the buyer is happy to have the beast merely green gralloched, with near 4kg included over the usual weight you consign to a dealer, would you argue?

For all we know, the beast may already have been earmarked for a customer, and it could be there for them appearing at some ensuing point, for its (- judging by this thread - successful) promotional value and/or as a talking point for other potential customers. We just don’t know.

That was my first thought too…

The vaginal tuft is still there suggesting that the pelvis hasn’t been tunnelled, also there is no evidence that the neck had been opened up to remove the oesophagus suggesting that the green gralloch is still in.

Looking at this, I can only think it’s been done using photoshop or some sort of AI.
Wow, steady on, i can assure you its a genuine pic from a pal of mine whos collecting something near Manchester.
They spotted this and sent me it because I told them about the venison prices im getting from the dealer.
No photo shop that I can guarantee.

Good points, both 👍

Very floppy and no sign of rigor mortis. Pretty sure this is AI / photo shop.
Not a speck of blood anywhere to be seen.
Could be wrong wouldn’t be the first time😂
My guess is…. Fake news and a vegan psy opp 😂
Again absolutely not fake, it was taken earlier today. A little more detail, I belive in Bolton but ill find out for sure.

What have Muslims got to do with it? Anyone who doesn't like what's on display (pork chops or dead deer) can simply shop elsewhere.

Just looks like an old-school butcher to me, who probably knows his market well.

I've seen enough posts on here over the years by people hankering after the "good old days" when a butcher's shop front would be festooned with feathered game etc during the winter months. Well this ought to keep you all happy. He's even got quite a few of his price labels in £/lb, not kg. Just like the old days! :british:
Around our area it wasn’t butcher shops but greengrocers/Fishmongers who sold (Needed a game license to sell?) fur and feather with their jackets on.
2 shops within 100 yards of each other both selling game.
One shop just lifted a shutter at the front when they opened, so completely open front.
You can imagine what sort of things made their way in or hung about on the game which was hanging outside, especially in the summer time.
When the two brothers (Cutler) retired around 1970 a lady called Rose bought the business but stopped selling game.
She would however, occasionally ask us to get a rabbit or hare for a special customer.
Wonder why he sells some meat by the lb and others by kg?
Ken.

On a more positive note, perhaps this thread should be seen in a positive light by those without access to conventional carcass disposal c/o an in-the-fur collecting Game Dealer.

Fantastic… I would love to see this on markets everywhere. Legitimately sourced of course 😎
And with full traceability and temperature control!?

I like seeing venison in mainstream outlets but not like this. No one would rush to buy a whole lamb if it was lying there in its fleece, half the guts still in it and no where near a fridge. Why do we think it’s “quaint” to see deer handled with such little respect??

The vendor I’m guessing must have a market.
If it’s going to be eaten nose to tail…. To me that’s the best respect any animal harvested can have.
