Our toaster broke few weeks back. Happy on grill myself.

Usually only eat breakfast on a Sunday, but this thread inspired me at 5am this morning! Buttered so melts & soaks, then bit more butter on top!! 🤤🤤

Leave mine upright to rest a minute post toaster, still warm enough to have the butter melt in yet still remain visible. Makes for a good soldier!

Apart from some artisan butters, Kerrygold is a good everyday butter.

AND SO WE ARE CLEAR BRITISH none of that Lurkpak or French nonsense

i apologise that this is from the Grauniad. I'm not a socialist, but i do like their recipes (Grauniad not socialists)

AArgh and i see i'm beaten to it. However this version uses a mixer for zero effort!

You butter bread for use as soldiers? That’s just wrong on every level!
How do you get an even level of yolkyness if one side has an impermeable butter boundary??

Thick white Irish soda bread toasted - hot and loads of country salted butter.

Melba toast - cold with cold Cheshire butter.

When I was a child we used to go to a hotel for Sunday lunches “The Belfry” outside Wilmslow- the Melba toast with the starters is ingrained on my memory.

I’ve caught my 4 year old eating butter without toast, just a spoon and a smile 😃

I love Irish potato bread fried in butter to go with the streaky bacon and fried eggs

And a Boxing day breakfast favourite, cold christmas pudding slices fried in butter then served with advocaat poured over it

Are you ready? I am now going to say something that can never be unspoken.

I don't do butter!

Not on toast, not in mash, not on sandwiches, I just don't do butter.

Sheffield really is still in the dark ages

Remember hearing an American share this pearl of wisdom, "Butter makes everything better."

I am also a hot toast, butter straight on - usually leave the butter out for a good while as well before I even get to toasting.

An old university room mate of mine was even more extreme...

Toast out of the toaster, butter on, buttered toast into the MICROWAVE for 30s 😲

Funnily enough, that roommate was also from Sheffield...
